It's not a favorite per se, but it's an ancient lunacy that basically foretold a lot of batshit crazy the internet, and more importantly certain segments of niche groups.

So in the heyday of Tiny Toons, Tress MacNeille (Babs Bunny, Fifi La Plume) had a stalker - he would worm his way into studio tours to declare his affection, managed to get her contact information to send her disturbing letters, bad enough the woman refused to go conventions anywhere where this man could get to.

This particular stalker is pretty much the reason why Furries ended up with such a bad reputation.

Not sure if it's my favourite, but the stupidest fandom wank I ever experienced was epic flamewars over the length of a Super Star Destroyer. There were astrophysicists involved.

not my favorite i think, but the most recent one i thought was interesting was the one in which a rinharu shipper on twitter turned out to have been catfishing all her friends (she used selfies from another twitter user who then came forward to call her out on it) and also pretended to be two of her other friends. it was pretty shocking because many people felt bad for the friends she lied to, but then a bunch of people tried to paint the person behind the catfishing as a makoharu shipper who was out to get rinharu shippers and suddenly people made the whole ordeal about ships and shippers of one ship being worse than shippers of the other ship

it was incredibly stupid, especially because the affected parties just wanted to be left alone and deal with the fact that a friend they trusted for years turned out to be such a liar

this was so many years ago but i remember running into this girl on lj who seriously created a whole religion based around inuyasha. i wasn't even in the fandom, i just found her somehow and she believed that inuyasha was prophetic and how inuyasha was "the antichrist" and he was going to take kagome as his "dark bride." they then posted screencaps as "photographic evidence" that their religion is real.

it's hard to say if they were a troll or not because this was so long ago, but i still remember it like it was some kind of crazy dream but no. no, that really happened.

a recent one, but will remain legendary in my mind: tony the tiger being sexually harrassed by furries on twitter who called him "daddy" and asked for dick/foot pics. then there was buttrage when furries of any sort received an auto block. the horny ones shrugged and moved on to their new daddy chester cheetah who welcomed them with open arms.

oh, to have been a fly on the wall near the poor employee who had the unenviable task of figuring out what the fuck was going on and how to stop it.
