probably not the saltiest I've ever been, but FUCK the ending to Seikaisuru Kado. I'm still mad about how a show went from being one of my faves to trash in the span of a single bullshit episode.
Re: What's the saltiest you have ever been over a canon?
This. Came here to post the same thing. Apparently, the ending was a truly massive case of executive meddling, since it was originally twice as long, and Tsukai wasn't even in it. A number of the people who worked on the anime are also unhappy with the way it turned out.

Translations of various post-series interviews. Unfortunately, my source is just some anons on 4chan who have been kind enough to translate these things, so take it with a grain of salt.
This makes me really sad, but I'm not surprised. it was really jarring to see the show suddenly shift to being about a dumb teenage-like romance instead of the serious mature show it started out as, and even leading up to the finale I still had hopes it would turn out okay. That ending was just... bad.
Maybe they can get an adaption or something and make it into the story they really wanted. I'd read a manga or novel based on the original concept of Kado.
The final episode wasn't even that bad as a whole. It was just the last five minutes that made everything crash and burn with the introduction of baby-ex-machina god child.
There is, in fact, both a novel and manga. Both are only available in Japanese, though. The manga, at the very least, makes the romance between Shindo and Tsukai progress more organically, and the novel is its own fascinating beast altogether.
The novel has an ongoing translation available at http://boards.4chan.org/cm/thread/3116547
i'm one of the few that liked the ending, but shindo and tsukai's romance bothered me. it came out of nowhere and seemed very forced. it may have been more interesting if they had decided to have a child purely as a means to an end. if the novel/manga expands on their relationship more, then that's fine. it's unfortunate the anime ending happened the way it did.
i'm also a little bitter about shindo dying. i find it hard to believe someone with supposed renowned competence couldn't find a solution that didn't involve a death.
