the mods finally banned someone. there's hope yet
is it worth apping in this game? some people on my plurk list have told me it's a joke of a game?

Back in the day, it actually worked as an app-free game. But now that it's gone mainstream, a lot of shit-tiers infest it. It's more or less a public, glorified musebox, though the mods make an honest effort to keep things interesting with the plot, and have been cracking down on the squatters. They do deserve credit for that.
The game has gotten a bad rap because of a few shit-tiers who joined (Kaitou/Shaun, Crypticgirl, previously Kayvin) and fucking Janice (who still isn't banned for some reason), but it's not a "total joke." The level of wank is actually surprisingly low compared to other games of similar size, and there are some genuinely good players there, but app-free games always attract the same crowds, and right now Genessia's the only game in town in that department.

you mileage is gonna vary probably on the different players, best way to see for yourself is cruising the recent character tags they've used to gauge an opinion. people are quick to rag on genessia for its lack of quality control but there are those of us in it just because it's relatively easy and low commitment compared to other games out there, too.
