the lack of variety is the worst part simply because it's a self perpetuating problem. the less variety there is, the fewer people post to it, making even less variety, etc.

it's because no one really replies on picture prompt memes anyway, people are too lazy. all those memes are just top levels, some people linking pictures, very few actual threads.

I always reply. It's that either people want something specific or have something different in mind or whatever and they simply refuse to be specific and would rather not thread at all than ask. On one of them a while back I got four people I didn't know. One said they'd be back and would start but I wrote starters for the rest and no reply. Much like people would rather talk about RP than actually RP they'd rather post images, too.

I always assumed ppl don't play on it anymore bc people will interpret prompts in different ways. someone might link a literal picture of a sunset and think of "time of day" and the receiver might interpret it as metaphorical or whatever. so their views don't match and that leads to dumped threads.

and ever since memes started to decline, that went down, too, probably because of embarrassment for "interpreting it wrong"

obviously I'm speaking about pic prompting in general, bc it's kinda hard to interpret a bj gif any other way, but I still think it applies.
