I've seen worse. Someone had their character hoard something like 12 foxes in a game and when people were confused by why the hell they had so many, the player claimed that their character was the "alpha of the pack"
as a mod, i really don't want or need to know the details of why someone needs to take a hiatus. for one thing, that edges into the dangerous territory of judging what counts as a "valid" reason for a hiatus, and for another, i just plain don't want to know and don't really care. just give me the dates for when you can't tag and we're golden.
passing anon saying, don't get talked into faderift. do they want her? yes. will they treat her with any sort of respect icly? no. will they generally shit all over her icly? yes. oocly, they'll "love" you, but like don't do it, man.
if someone's living paycheck to paycheck, they should fucking know better than to spend all their money on cats and merch and then act surprised that they have no money left to afford the place where they store all their cats and merch.
more shipping memes that are basically identical to the other dozen posted in the last 24 hours but have slightly different titles and a different gif of two pretty people kissing.
like yeah bs is usually thirsty af but jfc it's been especially bad this week and idk why
mods won't remove them bc they're just slightly different enough to be unique ofc. never mind that most of these aren't breaking twenty comments, and didn't break twenty comments when they were posted last week either
this entire thread is ABOUT a dumbass with limited funds buying toys, anon.
are you unfamiliar with the concept of 'you have X amount in set bills, if you spend all your money on non necessities, the bills are still going to come around and they still need to be paid'? living paycheck to paycheck or being poor doesn't negate this extremely basic fact
I played one of those "we want one and will love you" types in another game. It was completely demoralizing because my castmates, despite being nice oocly, still tried to apply their own headcanon to my character, while icly doing everything possible to undermine them and refusing to budge on the most basic decisions where they were involved.
a lot of the time, when people SUPER WANT a certain character but can't attract or keep one it's because they want a chew toy. if you really want a character and are making them feel welcome, they won't be hard to keep.
while i definitely know exactly what you're talking about, i genuinely do want a Viv bc we could use a Loyalist Mom and it would be great to get CR with her (if she would deign to notice my dude, which, I understand, is not a guarantee). we COULD use a lot more steady loyalists in FR and it would be super duper nice to have them--and the mods are extremely encouraging of them OOC & want to retain loyalist players!!
buuuut all that said and notwithstanding my own desires, you are right there are people in the game who want Viv around so they can have a chewtoy. which sucks!!
Many of us are. Different people take different things from being poor. For some, they better learn to budget, plan, and remain frugal even when they come into a little extra money. Tal's just one of those more frustrating cases where the poor person doesn't know what properly to do with even the possibility of a little extra money, isn't accostumed to saving, and spends it immediately on nonessentials. In Tal's case, she keeps counting her chickens before they're hatched, gets super excited about raising/having "extra" funds and blows it so when something comes up like her husband's check being delayed, she's left with nothing. And that is completely and totally on her for not learning her lesson after the first time. She's an endless cycle of B.S. that keeps relying on others to dig her out of a hole that she herself gleefully digs at every opportunity.
