I don't know if it's the same on WoW, but I know that in some games you can get your PvP flag turned on for attacking PvP enabled players, healing or casting buffs on them (even as an AoE thing), toggling it, or entering an enemy/PvP area.

With the Legion expac, they started making areas of the game PvP even if you're on a PvE server (the Dalaran sewers is the most infamous of these areas--caused days of people whining back and forth on the forums over it when it went into effect), and some of the areas aren't marked until you've already wandered into them.

By now, most players know where the areas are and just avoid them or get friends to go with them, but there are still players who freak out over it, even though it's been old news for months now.

yeah, reading further, she actually just skimmed a horde quest hub and is freaking out because she wasn't 'warned' that she was too close to it, and seeing blood elf architecture filled with nothing but blood elves wasn't enough to make her give it a wide berth in the first place. (her excuse was 'but the map is like neutral areas I've been to before!')

basically, she's mad because she wasn't paying attention to either the map or the storyline quests and got one-shot by the game.
