as someone who was going to jump into this plot, that's why i'm avoiding it. we're not playing dnd, so using dnd logic to argue why no one else could touch her makes no sense. besides, aren't the adventure zone/other tabletop characters we've got running around also very powerful and of a high level? the demon oc's mun is making all of this much more complicated than it needs to be, and then keeps making comments on plurk about how no one is doing anything.
not in this game but even by dnd rules your taz cast has a pair of liches in it and a guy who saved the multiverse by making a taco, you should be golden lmao
Three liches if you count the antagonist one. So the fact that the demon oc mun keeps acting like even they can't touch her is... absolutely hilarious.
i'm fairly certain vax and the other dnd characters are very powerful, too, and that's not even touching the non-dnd based characters in game, so watching the player go on and on about how it's going to take a mob of people to take out this demon is ridiculous.
don't blame them, honestly. who wants to make their character hold the stupid ball so somebody else can play raid boss?
i want to give the demon mun the benefit of the doubt and say they probably just don't want one person wandering up and smacking her character down, but when you're playing panfandom, you're bound to bump up against some characters stronger than yours. blatant "look how big my balls are" antagonists who swing their weight around don't really work in dwrp because of that.
i'm less sympathetic if they've really been complaining on plurk about nobody indulging them. can we get some pastebins or snippets?
naw that's what i meant. i'm betting they know better and don't want to go near this plot. some of the sounded like they were into it originally too but now they're sitting out.
oh yeah, i was agreeing with you, np. it kind of shafts them because there's a chance people will icly go "why didn't you help" or their cr might get involved or injured and they'll get sucked in anyway, even tangentially.
shitty situation for everybody involved, honestly.
combing through all the plurks, it sounds like they wanted to DM a raid boss and got asschafed when they didn't get the turnout/amount of attention they wanted. also seems like they were pushing hard for the adventure time elves (?) to be the ones to take her down and they're set on making it insanely hard for anybody else to even try.
i get not wanting your uber powerful character to get knocked down by just anybody, but going "x characters could take her down but for anybody else it's going to be super difficult!!!!" is just bad collaborative gaming.
speaking as an adventure zone fan, why the fuck are people so desperate for taako and lup's attention? this has been in every game i'm in so far that has either of them
not familiar with adventure zone but aren't those two the absolute least likely to give anyone the attention/validation they want anyway?
like i said, not canon familiar, but what is it with people icly humping the legs of characters who probably won't give a fuck either way. seriously guys, love yourselves.
taako is canonically kind of a self-confessed piece of shit who's only out for number one and doesn't have issues so much as he has an entire subscription. he's the fabulous but damaged, lup's the cool girl archetype who burns things for fun. they're both overpowered as fuck by the end, canonically lgbt, racially ambiguous, universally agreed to be beautiful, loved by all in canon despite or even because of various faults.
i love taz but those two are pretty much what would happen if you put every oc on dw into a blender.
People are indeed referencing the Simarillion elves, who expressed interest in being the ones to take Caedra down when the plot was first proposed. I don't know how far back that plurk is, it was before the formal ooc planning post but I don't see it now. It may have actually been on the Margaery player's timeline?
this isn't table top gaming with a handful of people who are used to playing together. if the characters you wanted involved don't get involved you still have to find a way to make things work out. you can't expect everyone to adhere to table top rules and act like this is dming as normal.
if you're going to run an event with the scope she's reaching for then you need a definite idea of how it's going to end just in case plotting falls through for whatever reason. "if she isn't stopped then she'll just keep rampaging for a couple weeks and quit when she's bored" isn't something anybody wants to deal with.
imo if you're making a plot like this into a big deal the plotting itself should have happened more than a week before the actual plot and gotten a public endorsement by the mods (like on the mod plurk account? something more visible). seems like a number of players were blindsided by this because so much of the plotting happened on plurk and for half of the plotting week people were away for the holidays anyway.
