If they're really that active they should have enough activity to reply when they first see AC, and if not then they should still be active enough to be watching the communities and remember to respond before the deadline.
i'm not gonna sit and account for every scenario you pedants can come up with. it is what it is. i said what i said. if you don't agree that's fine but at the end of the day it still boils down to, occasional mistakes are excusable but i'm tired of all the chronic hand-holding that gets done in this hobby.
if you can ping your friend for not responding to the warning list, you can ping them before AC closes anyway.
Part of being active is submitting your AC on time. If they can't put in the effort to remember the deadline and submit their AC, they're failing that part of the activity requirement even if they pass the rest with flying colors.
I'm not saying an active player should be booted for forgetting to submit AC every now and then, but there's absolutely no reason a really active player should be forgetting every single month. I've known a few players like this, and the big issue was that there were no consequences for forgetting, so they just fell into the habit of waiting to be pinged. But that makes more work for the mods and is just lazy.
IMO, taking a strike for forgetting to submit AC is fair. No one should need to be pinged every month.
then set a calendar reminder, or follow the mod plurk for updates. its very standard for games to have it at either the end or beginning of each month. unless they're new to DW and don't know what the usual conventions are then there's no excuse.
i remember when it was 2009 and i apped to three games, my first time rping on LJ. i didn't realize when AC went up and only one of the three games took pity on me and let me stay. never forgotten to submit AC since lol
