it also depends on the japanese vidya. if it's persona where the characters are stylized then yeah you get lumped into anime. but games like mgs, silent hill and re are japanese, but still have a more "realistic" look to them.
I play from one of the canons you mentioned and I've basically never had trouble getting CR from any medium with the exception of certain LAs who I think were mostly just cliquey circlejerkers and not necessarily judging me personally for playing from a video game.
But most people definitely seem to dump stuff like Persona and Ace Attorney and what have you into the anime pit without a second thought.
