in my case he outright admits multiple times that what he did was wrong so it's not even like he isn't aware of it.

yeah in my case it's admittedly kinda subtle (and what he did wrong was so minor compared to what the person who opposed him did wrong), but he does eventually say he made a wrong choice. he's a good person and fucked up from a place of trying to care for others, but he still fucked up.
