i think it's the fact of how many people want to handwave stuff in addition to it being a requirement for it to be played out for any voting on anything to happen, otherwise there can't be a proposal. handwave away, but it's not going to count as far as activity goes or participation, and it is kind of weird to see person after person say 'x will be here, but i can't actually play, so handwave'. this isn't something that was sprung on anyone. people made plans for this thing to happen. you knew it was coming. plan your playing better, or don't be in a game that requires actual activity for participation.
people got irritated last event because they either didn't read or didn't get their entry put up in time to qualify for the rewards of recognition for the hostage/rescue event. a lot of people signed up and didn't bother playing it out and seem to also be upset they couldn't handwave themselves into rewards. i'm in a game to play things out, not handwave everything.
most players are active in the intro log and this event only requires a top level and "+1" voting comments, it's clearly not a big deal if you can't do long threads.
a top level and you should probably thread it out. i get that it's a mini event, but there are way too many people that are on autopilot in this game. i don't expect a long, tiresome thread. but a thread with more than people just making a suggestion so that people can vote on it would be nice. you still have to play in it to count.
exactly. so all the ooc plotting stuff is only really good for offering/finding an invite to the party and build cr, which is pointless when most of the people aren't going to be bothering to thread out most things. and on the ic post, which is where you need to play to both offer a proposal and vote, you need to play out a proposal. a top level isn't going to sell your argument. threading it out is kind of necessary. you don't have to play in it to vote, no, but someone has to play stuff out, and if most/half the people involved are just +1ing or handwaving, what's the point? it's the first attempt at involving people in an in game government and most people aren't bothering to be involved.
i'll be waiting for the people complaining that things didn't go their way because all they did was vote and not play things out. or that they didn't vote in time. (too many people only check posts out for the first day or so, so anything played after is going to be ignored)
yes. i'm the one being unreasonable. expecting people to play in a political game they signed up to play in instead of cliquing up and handwaving everything that isn't smut or sol cupcake making. yes. it's me. mario.
I mean, your point is entirely valid and I absolutely don't disagree, but you're unreasonable to expect different with our current culture/climate TBH. El Nysa is the latest and greatest shiny so it attracted the exact same crowd of transient "ooh time to mass app in and then proceed to not play anything but mindless SoL" flakes that these games always do. You can literally go back and look at all the similar games that came before it and it's the same pattern over and over again of rushing in, stagnating everything, then dropping. These people care more about being on the roster and being one of the ~cool kids~ than making any actual contributions to it, and once they get bored they'll just move on and drag the next game to a slow, painful death. Rinse, cycle, repeat.
Which is a shame because I don't wish the game itself ill, and I liked the premise, but I knew the moment I saw it these people would just ruin it all over again. You can see them pretty clearly whiteknighting themselves in this thread too.
I don't know about you, but I'm busy with the intro log and doing quests. Just because someone isn't balls deep in political shit doesn't mean they're only doing fluffy cupcake threads. The game is advertised as choose your own adventure ffs.
