unwarranted defensiveness over characters is always silly, but if you're playing an uggo, you should be expecting that not everyone will want to fuck him

I stopped playing a character I really enjoyed because people would not stop going "ew gross lol" anytime I brought them up on my plurk. It killed my drive for the character because it was so exhausting.

The character wasn't even unattractive, they were just visibly middle-aged and older than the rest of the cast.

idk why the idea that someone might be defensive over their character getting mocked for being unattractive is beyond the realm of belief. they obviously like the character so it doesn't seem weird for them to be annoyed if someone's going around saying "ew uggo" at them

my gut tells me that whoever op is talking about is just tired of seeing their character pigeonholed.

I played a character who was of average intelligence but one time in canon another character made a joke about him being dumb and fandom latched onto it like it was his only defining feature. It was just a throw away joke line but then everyone with a touch of canon familiarity decided for me my character was an idiot. It got tired pretty fast.

also you've jumped a stretch from "my character icly insulted their's appearance and it oocly irritated them" to "they mad no one wants to fuck their character." and even if they are, so what? why does their desire to get their character laid and not insulted offend you so much? because you're feeling particularly entitled to get to take the easy shot at their character because you're not creative enough to think of a funnier joke?

like anon above said, they probably were okay with the jokes before and now they're just exhausted by it. can't blame them. just like people who app villains get exhausted of coming in and being instantly called out for being the bad guy or having the bad guy name, sometimes the joke gets old and people want a chance to rp past that part.

a character making a jab at another character doesn't even need to be a whole thing if you don't want it to be the center of a thread

there's this thing we as roleplayers do called writing, idk if you've heard of it, but word on the street is you can actually choose where to steer a conversation and not throw a hissy fit oocly because you're tired of something that should be reasonably expected to happen

Played a character who got designated by fandom as the cute, innocent cinnamon role despite that not really jiving with his canon characterization (he’s nice and under 6 feet tall so I guess that’s all you need), and it went really quickly from cinnamon roll jokes to full on infantilization of my character. It made him really unfun to play.
