Does anyone wish that people in the DWRP scene were open to new things that went beyond the realm of MCU spamfests on memes or insular, cliquey games? It really gets to me sometimes when I suggest something new and I’m instantly ghosted or blocked. I don’t do anything that weird, I just have this particular character I want to RP and everything will be going so well until I suggest him. Then I will receive a few curt, slow replies, a polite declination and then either they never speak to me again or I find out I’ve been blocked.

Why, exactly? I don’t have a bad reputation. When I play characters other than my main muse, people are usually rather pleasant. I have had great CR with canon cast mates before when playing other characters and have a lot of fond memories during some of the games I’ve joined in the past. I’m not exactly the one creep at the party everyone’s trying to avoid, in fact I’ve been praised dearly during love memes. So far these reactions towards my request for a specific storyline are, quite frankly, mystifying given these circumstances, but of course I’m not infallible so I’m curious as to what may be the problem.

So, then. Hear me out.

this is needlessly petty and stupid even by dwrp standards.

i've been in games in other rp communities where mods and DMs help their players get started. it's rather nice and supportive. i'm glad to see more folks willing to try out new techniques. it's a more direct and reliable way to get the info you need on players and characters for your particular game than the way dwrp's done in it in the past.
