da

anon, if mods kicked out everyone who was an asshole to them, all games would be empty. the problem isn't one or two malicious fuckwads, it's death by a thousand cuts because dwrpers are whiny, ungrateful, and have a shitty habit of treating mods like customer service drones who are there for that specific dwrper's own personal entertainment.

"Death by a thousand cuts" is exactly what it feels like. It also creates a burnout issue where eventually, one of those cuts is going to be the last one a mod can tolerate. That's where we see mods overreacting to some small suggestion or petty barb. It's not that the situation warrants a response in that case, but more that the situation just happened to be where the dam burst.

Do anons just never hear of idioms ever

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2022-03-01 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
anons like this don't talk to people offline or consume media that isn't children's cartoons

it's one reason why there are so many people here who write like high school freshmen, they just never developed their command of language past a certain point

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2022-03-01 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
there's literally nothing here suggesting someone didn't understand the idiom, and children's cartoons use idioms all the time, but sure, we can have this dumbshit argument again ig

then... don't mod? i'm not even being smarmy here, if modding is that stressful to you, then don't do it. i'd rather see this hobby die out than people burn out that hard. yeah, dwrpers will bitch and moan about WHERE MODS AT but stable mental health > crumbling under pressure.

Players have treated mods like shit from day one and mods have talked about it and now you're going to act like any of you give a shit about mod burn out?

we do stop modding. and you people throw enormous screaming tantrums because oh no your game died, how dare mods prioritize their mental health over your entertainment?

DA

(Anonymous) 2022-03-01 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Don’t even bother. WG cuts the tall poppies and rakes mods and players over the coals for reasons ranging from petty to downright malicious and then they wonder why games and DWRP in general is dying.

Trying to please anons is a lost cause. The only winning move is not to play.

da

(Anonymous) 2022-03-01 01:50 pm (UTC)(link)
not just wg. there's plenty of bad behavior in our mod inbox, which inevitably turns into a grudge when the mods don't act as the bad player's personal taskforce or entertainment dispenser

Re: MODS' PET PEEVES

this is not true. when mods boot players with shitty attitudes, most other players in the game will see it as a good thing. i guarantee if you're a toxic player, everyone else in the game would be happy to see you gone.

Re: MODS' PET PEEVES

(Anonymous) 2022-03-01 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
+1 when i booted out a shitty attitude player, yes their immediate posse dropped with them and made a stink and they wanked on the game for a couple of months but the rest of the game's actual activity skyrocketed after that. other players thanked us.

it didn't feel immediately worth it but over time it became the best decision we made. good riddance to bad trash, as they say

Re: MODS' PET PEEVES

(Anonymous) 2022-03-02 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
You've misread the comment you're replying to. The problem isn't that everyone will drop if you ban a few assholes, it's that it's not just a few assholes. We have a culture of treating mods incredibly shittily.

Re: MODS' PET PEEVES

(Anonymous) 2022-03-02 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
because people see assholes pushing boundaries and getting away with it so they think it's acceptable.

i would like to point out that most players aren't assholes or at least aren't intentionally being assholes. some most certainly are though and they're very easy to spot and remove. at least doing that much will help improve the culture.

(Anonymous) 2022-03-02 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Most players aren't saints and aren't wankers. If players who treat the mods badly get what they want, you foster a culture of everyone treating the mods badly.

If players who treat the mods badly get warned and banned, the majority of "follow the culture" players are going to be following a culture where people still in the game don't do that shit.
