honestly unless you're writing smut/some random scenario where people are running around with their junk out, you can always just ask not to incorporate it into threads bc you're not interested/comfortable with including those elements into rp. any further reading into it is on them.

i've never seen anyone with a trans hc not make it the point of the character though. i've seen actual trans characters who don't even bring it up or rarely do, but if it's hc it's there because they want to make a thing of it.

They HAVE to make it a point that the character is trans and often in a weird transphobic way too. Like mentioning a trans girls "masculine" features or emphasizing a trans boys wide hips and shit like that. And then the character opens their mouth and spews the muns weird soap box beliefs just to round it out

ok??? that doesnt mean they dont exist though. i know several people that do trans hcs and its non-intrusive and not that big of a deal.

obviously thats not always a given, but the only reason im giving any benefit of the doubt is because op said they're friends.

I honestly don't think there's wank in this thread (except about that Lyn person) and you were just asking the honest question about it. I hope your friend doesn't react badly if you do choose to tell them why you don't want to play with them because that would be entirely on them. Hope you can find someone else playing those characters with you anon. <3

thank you, and thanks to everyone else who gave good-faith replies. it's true that i don't need to explain myself and i got stuck thinking i would have to. i guess i'm just really afraid of offending my friend. they're a good person, i just really don't want to play with their trans hc characters.

no worries anon. i'm one of the trans anons in the thread complaining about stuff like this so sorry if anything got out of hand lol. i don't play trans hcs or against them but i would be more concerned if they did get really offended if you just said you didn't want to do it because of the hcs. opt outs and things like that exist for a reason and they should respect your boundaries there too, especially considering you're trying to respect theirs.

and if they see you rping the ship with someone else without those hcs... well, lmao maybe they'll realise something.

hate to say it but it's true. i've played with trans ocs and canon trans characters before and they didn't make a big deal about it, just a "btw they're trans" in their character info/top-level and then it never came up in the threads themselves unless there was a reason for it. it's only the trans hc players who make it the whole focus of the character.
