is there proof he's interacting with them? the mods are anon and we don't know for sure who else is running the game. being existing in a public space that's open to everyone and not talking to them isn't violating boundaries, especially if he was there first.

if people in the discord have such a problem with his presence, why don't they just leave the server for their own personal safety? not enforcing their own boundaries in the present isn't anyone's responsibility but theirs. we're all adults here and it's irrational to believe that totally uninvolved strangers are going to care when they're not seeing any problems in the present.

even the stuff about them being annoying in the discord now is all subjective and a matter of what a person personally finds intolerable behavior. it doesn't help that before this, it was already established that there were some oversensitive, socially maladjusted wallflowers who were offended just by the sight of anyone else having pleasant interactions with each other in the server. so yeah, there are a lot of reasons to take anon accounts of their behavior with a grain of salt.

also that people have continued to reserve and no one's bothered to actually drop over this speaks for itself over just how much this really matters to anyone, including the people in game who've been burned and supposedly have a problem with them.

if gsai is a legit safety risk to the people in the game, why aren't the people they've supposedly burned badly not dropping like flies? too much of this comes across as fabricated grudgewank from the same obnoxious as fuck anons who've been really salty that people are enjoying this game since it opened.

so yeah, in this circumstance, people are going to have to pony up with evidence and a better backstory if anyone's going to take their grievances seriously.

not only is there caps proving that they conceptualized the game and tried to get others to mod it because they felt as though they couldnt have their name attached, they have invite privileges for the discord and have been proven to have access to the mod plurk

this alone is pretty potent proof that gsai is an anon mod. arguing otherwise is at best a huge stretch and at worst malicious to people who wanted to avoid him in this game and now dont know if they have a choice in the matter

or that shouting GRUDGEWANK GRUDGEWANK GRUDGEWANK is feeding right into their delusions that they are being ridiculed unfairly

or that the onus shouldn't be on everyone else to overlook their behavior and "enforce their own boundaries" to get away from them

I don't know what you expected. If people aren't being personally harassed or mistreated they're going to be okay with this sort of thing. Look at our past. People participated happily in CDC until it closed even though the mods were openly horrible to certain players because...it wasn't happening to THEM. This isn't a surprise.

People are still going to apply and play to this game no matter what. It's big and popular and a lot of people are playing there. Just finding out who runs it isn't enough to kill the game.

+1 This is what I have been saying. It's still up to the people who say their "boundaries are trampled" to enforce their own boundaries as adults. Other anons have pointed out that it's the mindset of thinking you can avoid someone in a big game that led them to app to a game gsai is prominently a part of but that the shadowmodding is the real problem.

This game has anon mods. Any time someone joins a game with anon mods they're potentially joining a game that's run by someone they don't get along with. If gsai had not anonfailed, we probably still wouldn't know they're involved. If they're on their best behavior, nothing changes. If they fuck up, then all the anons who said they were trouble get proven right. In any case, they did fuck up so people know about them and those people can make the decision to drop before anything happens. What's the issue here?

Did more than one person even get idled out when AC closed? Last I heard on the last day of AC it was down to a couple players who hadn't turned AC in yet. Idling out of the game and getting swept would have been one way some people could have dropped without putting a target on their back.

The feedback has also consistently been that the mods have been doing great about letting people do what they want to with their characters in the game and have been listening to what the players are saying and that's been true since the game opened. They also apologized publicly for making mistakes and getting called on them. If gsai IS involved with the mod team, they've been making an effort for six months to do exactly what anons here are claiming they'd be incapable of doing if they were really on the mod team. If anything, the other mods are going to make sure everyone behaves at least until things quiet down and everyone doesn't have eyes on every move they make so they can try and prove something. Gsai might be an idiot but their mod friends are probably smart enough to do a little damage control.

people are fully within their rights to find issue with this. its a problem you cant "curate your experience" out of if you are in the game they are deceitfully modding. using anon modding as a cloak to get around boundaries set by other players as a mod is an abuse of that privilege, period, and this is unforgivable when the playerbase also consists of past victims of theirs.

this is what people are angry about, not that gsai is uncomfortable and weird to talk to.

speaking solely for myself, i don't think there is any issue here. i'm glad gsai anonfailed so now i know to take it off my list for consideration. it's no skin off my nose whether current players drop or stay, or whether the game sinks or continues on for years (beyond the entertainment and schadenfreude of another public gsai fuck-up for me to popcorn)

i do think it's tacky and dumb that anons keep coming in here and humblebrag about how open minded and above wg they are while essentially communicating that gsai's lying to people he's hurt in the past doesn't matter to them at all

I know you're just arguing in bad faith and deliberately ignoring all the points that have already been made. But in case anyone else is following along, here's why above anon's comment is stupid.

1. More people than you realize don't follow anon comms whatsoever and don't yet realize what's going on.

2. Among those that do visit anon comms it's a well-known fact that Gsai parks their ass on any thread that mentions them and feverishly refreshes it. A previously active player suddenly disengaging and dropping the game in the wake of this news is painting a target on their back. They may as well tell Gsai directly why they're dropping because he's going to stalk and harass them either way.

3. More people than you realize are in the game discord but keep it permanently muted.

4. The game is big enough that it is possible to avoid a player you dislike, even if they're a very active one. I've been in since the start and haven't spoken to Gsai even once, and I wasn't even going out of my way to avoid them. However, no game is big enough to avoid a mod you dislike.

5. If Gsai was openly and publicly modding the game right from the start no one would care. Instead they lied about their involvement and continue to lie about it even now. They did this because they know they're a toxic, awful person that a large chunk of DWRP avoids for good reason. This is why people are pissed. It's a scaled up version of making a new account to tag someone that used your opt out.

Not really. As a fairly new person myself, anything more than a couple years old at best is meaningless. Someone with a lot of history when they were way younger and none recently is less suspicious than someone with no old history and recent wank. I'm going to watch the first person and be wary but I'm likely to avoid the second person entirely depending on what it is.
