anon. i am the person who asked for recs and i asked aggressively sarcastically bc someone told me this wasn't the place for good faith recs. i actually do just want recs for fantasy games that are good and i don't care that much about DA.

idk i was just being sarcastic! i guess i mean games people consider as good as or better than DA!

nayrt in that case i will suggest pillers of eternity games. the first game is a little rough and feels like a updated version of the first two Baldur’s Gate games, which makes sense because the lead designer was working on the original BG3 before it got canceled. it’s not necessary to play since the second game will sum it up for you and i feel that the game is a much more polished and refined experience. however if you don’t mind the gameplay being a little rough, i highly recommend playing the first game because the lore you learn through the story really enhances the second game - plus you can port over your save file and have the choices carried through.

i also recommend both of the pathfinder crpg games by owlcat games. they also released the first warhammer crpg not too long ago, but i haven’t had

that really depends on what you're looking for in a fantasy game. do you want open world, turn-based, branching story options, what? traditional fantasy or sci-fi fantasy?

oh i actually forgot to mention: baldur’s gate i/ii was developed at bioware. dragon age was supposed to be a spiritual sequel since they didnt have the license anymore. so if you liked the first game and hated how the sequels became more action orientated, like me, the games i mentioned above are more in line with how DA1 played.

also if you don’t mind old computer games and playing by dnd 2e rules, give the original bg games a try. i’ve replayed the game so many times in the past 20 years, especially since i couldn’t find a game that scratched the exact urge it does until pillars of eternity

da, but i definitely would not consider either emily or corvo attano to be malleable protagonists - you can make choices that change the outcome, but their personalities are largely the same except for "blood for the blood god" versus "i guess i'll pull this punch," and their backgrounds are set in stone

gonna be completely honest, if you're in the mindset that tags of any sort are "homework" you need to get to instead of a fun hobby, rp might not be for you (general you) anymore. or at the very least games might not be good for you.

there's nothing wrong with just dicking around on texting threads or memes in general but there is something wrong with making the people you're playing with feel like they're on the backburner because their tags are a chore and inconvenience for you to get to.

i have a screencap of the DM Alisa sent to the person she accused of getting her banned in GP because she shared it with her entire plurk. I doubt it was what got her banned but she framed it that way in her plurk back in February. Only reason I'm not sharing is because Alisa and her friends might use it to harass that person.

it was definitely not a ban over one dm, but i'm sure she wants her friends to think that so they don't know how fucking weird she got at the person in question.

i know this because i reported her too when i saw how she was behaving. my issues with her stemmed back to a previous game, but i guess the mods saw that as a pattern of behavior, because she was banned not long after.

Oh lmao I remember that. It was her defense that she was innocent and she was clearly the asshole in it. Her friends went dead quiet after she showed it, and two people were like “Sorry, this is a bad look for you actually.” And this was what she thought was okay to share.

you keep guilting me for having fun without you. but when i stop you go have fun with others. this is starting to feel like gaslighting. i feel like i should leave.

and their cousin, people who really will backtag forever but they have eight characters across three games and they hit their threads back maybe twice a month, so when other people get tired of returning to what their character was thinking six months ago and drops the thread they complain that no one ever tags them and it must be because of multiple nefarious coordinated grudges and not because they're a flake

oh absolutely. the dm she shared made her look crazy so i have no doubt her behaviour was even worse than what she shared publically. definitely a deserved ban.

same. i only have the dm saved because i was laughing about it with someone unrelated. why would you ever dm someone and go "don't you ever tag me again because you're too slow and you drop everything" and think you came off looking good.

that just makes me wonder what was the point of chasing after them for ships

your ship can't be so special you'd seethe over a flake for it instead of just ship with someone else in a thirst game

dan heng isn't even an unpopular character so surely someone would have jumped on it asap even in the cast

idk i feel like more people should tell flakes that, maybe they would get the hint and leave
