endgame: announced

me: oh cool let me take this brief period to wrap up my character development in a tidy bow before the game ends so i can be happy with my progress

almost everybody else: oh well guess the game is dead now lets all drop the game and never touch it again

not unique to this game but it's so frustrating

they're mostly just boring self inserts

has there ever been more than 5 or 6 people in this game who don't take 5+ days to tag back? the game slowed down even further when ac was reduced to 5 comments which isn't surprising. common sense would tell you that lowering the already paltry 10 comment ac to 5 comments was only going to encourage the slowness.

I keep seeing people declaring hh/hb as the new Homestuck but like... homestuck in its time was almost fucking impossible to avoid and so obnoxious in its specific homestuck-isms that it was almost impossible to tag one without running into something truly obnoxious, like text quirks. I remember it was kind of a running joke to be the first one in a game to make an infodumping network post about the troll romance shit. Casts with 10 different people were common and there were casts in pretty much every single game. It hooked a huge variety of people, everyone from otherwise LA-only rpers to players who previously only shiny-hopped the latest seasonal anime hunks. It was everywhere. EVERYWHERE. And I know we're smaller in general now, but I've seen like 3 games with no more than 2-3 characters between the casts then the same like 5 accounts on memes. The characters are a little weird and edgy but you can tag one without immediately being slammed with canon specific bullshit the way you always were with troll characters.

As a veteran of this mediocre corner of the internet I urge everyone to be real and honest. It is not comparable to homestuck AT ALL besides being VERY ugly as well.

exactly. it's not an issue of unavoidable, it's just obnoxious to the point of second-hand embarrassment to see a fandom steer so hard into how their canon is ~not like other canons~ without a hint of irony, because in both cases the canon itself takes that approach.

like, if hazbin fans just owned that the show tries way too hard, it wouldn't be annoying. there's nothing wrong with liking and being entertained by something like that, even if the canon tries to pretend it isn't that way. the fans being self-aware makes a difference imo

its like when people who play characters from disney stuff insist their canon isn't for kids because it deals with dark themes. kids movies/shows can do that, it's still for kids. doesn't make liking it bad, but be real

i do think hazbin is particularly funny because you can really see how so many rpers are still in their "it's not just a phase!" phase

The only thing crappier than the show is the fanbase but nice game at wording it that way only for it to be random shit. They could have been into kpop or mcu or some shit.

i can't speak to homestuck jokes but omg i'm glad someone else thinks hazbin is painfully unfunny. helluva boss too. the jokes basically amount to
"cock"
"daddy"
"kinky"

that's it, those are the punchlines

This and Helluva Boss try to be the show that curses the most. It gives me second hand embarrassment to watch.

no, that's a large reason behind why i dropped a long time ago. i really don't understand why people are in a game when they don't actually play in it.

as recently as april we had a really active event. that sort of activity was consistent through last year. the complete death of activity in this game didn't hit until earlier this year.

the spring cleaning event? 22 characters tagged it. song had 55 players in april, so not even half of all players tagged it let alone half the character list. there were 14 top levels and the first 2 top levels alone account for 155 of the 494 total comments.

the ac change went into effect in april which was the final nail in the coffin, but the game has always been slow except for a few handful of players.

basically, if not even 50% of the game is engaging with the main plot of the month, i don't think the game is very active. if you are in the game, i think you may have a cr group that is part of the active 5-6 people which is skewing your perception of how active the game really has been.

april was flower fest and it had five times as many comments on it

by 'event in april' i am referring to the flower festival (april 13th) not the spring cleaning (may 4th)

i would kill for an ic astarion for cross canon cr. but i can't blame the ones that play him like he's just a sex-loving sadboy with mild trauma who only needs to be redeemed by love, as they're all drowning in attention and no one's tagging my rigorously ic characters lol.

hazbin/helluva & homestuck. i guess you're just fucked if your canon is hideous, annoying, and starts with an h

no i don't care how much of a character they supposedly are or around, the fact that their existence bends every other character's personality around them is enough of a turnoff

this also goes for canons in general where shipping with the mc who may or may not be a malleable canon oc is a common thing. I don't actually mind the mcs on their own is the thing and will ship cross canon, but same canon? Blech
