most casual fans or viewers won't look into the creator's background. I heard of Vivziepop being transphobic first so I've personally been trying to avoid interacting with the canon, but it just keeps showing up unfortunately.

there's also a good chunk of fans/viewers who decide they prefer to like the show more than their own values. i know how that sounds, but i know a few trans friends who are aware of vivziepop being transphobic, waffled about it for a hot second, then decided to keep hyperfixating on this show regardless

i cant say if it's any good or not, i personally have made the choice to not bother with it especially after learning about the creator's transphobia, but it does seem weird to me that they'll poopoo on jkr but decide it's okay to enjoy this instead. i suppose maybe because as successful as hazbin/helluva has been, it's nowhere near the level of harry potter therefore not as influential?

As a trans person, I have noticed more trans people being willing to overlook transphobia directed towards transmascs than transphobia directed towards transwomen or transpeople in general. It's the same as how in the rare instance we get a trans character, most of the time it's a transwoman versus virtually no transmasc characters. In the rare instance we get one of those, it's probably someone pretty in an androgynous way with a buzzcut.

There are layers of misogyny and transphobia to peel back, and all of it sucks.

probably has something to do with the fact that, to our knowledge, viv hasn't spent thousands (millions?) of dollars lobbying to take rights away from trans people. she just has shit-tier offensive "opinions," but yeah, not to the level of calling trans women rapists and donating to organizations that want to see them all dead

i hate hazbin hotel and all the other ugly ass shows this person makes, but the difference between them and a hugely influential figure actively supporting hate groups seems clear enough to me. vivziepop just seems like an indie edgelord who never aged out of the mid-2000s compared to rowling, a millionaire bigot whose life revolves around transphobia
