it should be more socially acceptable to go to mods of a game and be like 'this player plays bob in three other games and it's coming across as highlandering. please decline their app or reserve and let them know that it's someone else's turn to play that char in a game'.

of course, it'd be nice if people were more aware of how much they're playing and aware that we don't have fifty games to squat in anymore, so taking up more than two games with the same char is a dick move in general, but that's expecting too much.

i don't think it would be beyond the pale to go to the mods about it, tbh. if i were modding a game, especially a new or capped one, and someone said 'maybe this is self serving or not, idk, but there's someone who's showing interest in this game and they're already playing that same character in three others and i know of at least two people who'd want the chance to play', i'd take it under advisement and if they reserved, i'd politely in a pm let the know that i appreciate their interest, but in the spirit of fairness, they need to step back and let someone else play that character in this game. they're welcome to play another character there, but tbh, i've found that people that play the same char in multiple games usually get a little territorial/possessive over them and aren't able to.

agreed. there's not that many games anymore these days, and it's also a valuable test of whether the player can be a generally reasonable person. if they have a really specific reason why they would want to bring this character into my specific game, i'd be open to conversation, but also have a very high bar for being convinced that they need to play bob in multiple games and can't possibly app anyone else.

it's one thing if this is a character from some obscure visual novel that no one else would be interested in playing, but if we're talking a popular character from a popular canon then people need to use a little judgment and realize that other people are probably going to want the chance to play them in a game too and that it's not fair to app that specific character to every single game.

Agreed. It's one thing if it's a rare canon, a show that hasn't aired in ten years, or even a canon that was but now isn't popular in dwrp anymore, but if it's something big then read the damn room

exactly. if it's something rare or weird that no one else plays from, go ahead and app to as many games as you want.

the problem isn't the number of games you're playing in, it's that you're taking that spot away from someone else who would like to have a fair chance to be able to play that character. that only becomes a problem when there are a lot of other people who also want to play that character.

at one point i was interested in playing todoroki from mha somewhere but the same person has him in like five games. it's a pain in the ass!
