I actually enjoy these, but they're so often played as "Oh, but I forgive you because TRUE LOVE." The ambiguity and conflict of reconciling the bad shit with the attraction is the whole point of an enemy-to-lover ship to me :/
- for similar reasons, stalker-stalkee ships. Whyyyyy do so many fandoms want to make these fluffy.
- ships that play into common porn tropes (teacher-student/boss-employee/large age difference/etc) because they almost universally attract people who like the trope better than the characters and will bend characterization to fit.
