honest question here, how do you rp celebrities anyway? i'm sure there are wiki pages of actors' biography and all, but it's not like an anime or any kind of fictional character where there are episodes, you have canon mates, and stuff happens in each episode.

with celebrities, you don't know what they're doing outside their movies too much, or who they really associate with, their likes and dislikes, or what they've been through. i dont get it.

well u see anon all you have to do is comb every post on their socials and decide what the minutiae of their personal lives Must Be based off that

this is exactly the same as reviewing a fictional canon, and is why rpfers are no different from us dwrpers at all actually, thus they should be included in panfandon rp

according to some people on rpa, apparently

reading that thread was making me feel internet gaslit

"parasocials who hyperstalk real people's random accounts and obsess over their lives and like to write about them fucking other real people while turning their real family members into npcs are just like you and me, totally normal. i have no horse in this race at all, please don't write in the paper that i think too much about my favorite actors"

Yeah, this is actually the point of contention for me. RPF culture celebrates stalking, because if you can find an interview from 2009 and a post from 2010 that confirm your celeb did tai chi in North Hollywood, you can use that new "canon" as a hook to open a tai chi studio and do a "workout trainer falls in love with fitness influencer" line (thread) with a Sabrina Carpenter or something. People make fake accounts to befriend the ordinary people in their celeb's life to get extra canon-accurate details, they use doxxing techniques to figure out which city a celeb is in based on what's in their photos, and they usually read blind items and gossip columns. The icon standard is to use tabloid shots, for fuck's sake.

The actual rp is pretty generic, my explorations gave me the impression people do lots of texting with current vernacular ala TFLN regardless of if that's "IC" for the celeb. So I guess it's more like playing OCs but they use someone's real name and face and career, and stalk them for the real details of their life, rather than having to invent anything.

from what i remember of my hs rp days, they were more like a glorified oc version of the person. we'd just take basic aspects of them and then just do what we wanted with the rest. it was very stupid and dumb, so i'm glad i didn't do that for too long and then went on to make self insert ocs before finally playing canon characters lmfao.

that was rpf before social media made cyberstalking so easy
