eh, depends on the game and reason for ban. i do know people who have been genuinely banned just because they don't get along with specific players who are close to mods. i have been on mod teams where such decisions have been made by the head mods. a ban isn't always a sign someone is a piece of work in general because mods are in fact players with biases and friends as well.

i know mods who ban people they just have beef with but are otherwise not wanky. a ban is there to make the game experience good for both mods and players and isn't the most accurate laundry list of wankers.

I’ll +.05 this. All the mods I know really tried to be fair but if there was someone they collectively had a bad experience with, they might slide them a “thanks but no thanks” decline.

That said, people also do get banned for being fucking insane! We’ve unfortunately seen it plenty of times before.

yeah which is an actual issue, i didn't say she wasn't one for real. i was saying that someone being banned sans any other details is not and never will be a sign they're an issue because that just isn't always the case in our sphere.

i've heard about multiple sets of mods who pre-ban people from their game because those players are playing the same characters/ships as the mods and they're insecure highlanders about the character or ship. they just make up reasons to reject them but really it's because they just don't want anyone to compete with them

i mean mods can ban anyone they want from their own games etc etc. but it's still bullshit.
