there are some obvious patterns if you slog through it all
+++++++++++ balance between serious/light-hearted events or flexibility & options
+++++++++++ cr focused
+++++++++ able to investigate and influence setting, consequences
++++++++ canon/character variety
+++++++ good mods
++++++ interesting setting (++++horror, +scifi, +fantasy, +au)
++++ people you know/like
+++ more plotty
+++ higher/stricter ac
++ welcome ooc environment
++ mobile friendly layouts
++ game ecosystem that allows normies, shady characters, and villains to thrive
+ optional discord
+ no option to go home
+ app quality
+ big casts
+ backtag friendly
+ smut games
+ no permadeath
+ oc friendly

---------------- complicated ac
------- lack of brevity on info pages or events
----- locked games
----- craus
---- complicated events/plots/setting
--- game size too big
--- wankers/people you don't like
--- power nerfing
--- anon mods
-- game pace too fast/slow
-- mandatory smut ac
-- no negative CR
-- fosters cliqueyness/insularness with older players
-- no cast caps or character limits
-- requires discord
-- tinder mechanic/event
-- smut games
- strictly sol
- npc focused
- monster transformation/horror/murder
- faction or mission based games
- hidden mod characters
this is not very scientific i just skimmed and added +/- for each mention of a thing, just to give a rough idea?

the trouble is nobody will agree on what counts as "complicated ac" or what "cr focused" means

funny to see people bitching about smut ac though, i can't remember the last time i saw a game with actual smut ac rather than something like letting players submit a smut thread for bonus ac

ayrt

yeah some people are still burned by 10 year old game trends and mechanics i guess. really not a current problem i also can't remember the last time i saw with forced smut-ac. i'd almost welcome seeing it somewhere just for the novelty.

i hope any potential mod looking at this will take it all with a grain of salt and do what they want to do with their game at the end of the day. don't boil a game down to satisfy the most common denominator, that's lame, and this is such a small survey sampling size anyway.

i respectfully disagree i feel like "uncomplicated ac" and "cr-focused" is pretty self explanatory? i've been in games where it's like submit 5 threads but no thread can reuse the same cr from last month and the threads have the started at the equinox of the new moon and no later and network threads carry different weight you can't submit more than 3 network threads of tiny dick length and you can't re-use threads you use for bonus ac unless you used them last month unless they're more than 2 months old like damn. complicated for no reason. hate that shit. can't imagine it's any easier to review on the mods' end either.

mods should just have a caveat in their rules somewhere they reserve the right to talk with a player if they notice habitual bad patterns or whatever
