idt the reason is goofy so much as the phrasing

it's just a form of escapism, you know? that extra layer between yourself and the character. sometimes a girl would rather play a 5000 year old space elf who is a guy. i agree with the anon who said that while it's often misogyny that makes f characters less popular overall, especially wrt tag-outs, it isn't always 100% about misogyny when it comes to why dwrpers prefer to rp the genders that they do.

tbh this is why i've never rped a character from any slice of life canon despite the fact that i watch/read a ton of them. there's just not enough escapism there for me to be interested.
