It's weird because the application has more writing required than a lot of games but somehow it still has the highest concentration of people who are OOC or just awful writers.

just like jobs rl some people pass the interview but once they have to do the actual work they're awful at it

i am very likely also a snob but yeah i've noticed this too. i think the mods just like seeing high numbers of players, whether they haven't commented to it in three months or not

i don't think traditional apps catch bad writers. i think a good method is games where you're asked to list positive and negative traits of a character's personality with canon citations. that can't prevent every bad writer from getting in obviously but many bad writers are deterred from essay style questions like that. have to apply actual critical thinking skills not just regurgitate info

You just described Pixieled's app so I think they just don't read them. There are people in the game who are barely coherent imo.

the canon unfamiliarity is a weird but obvious one in terms of apps they don't bother to read
