i think it was meant to be a content warning thing, but that sort of has the opposite effect when it's not accurate

at least she didn't conflate schizophrenia with DID. that's been a peeve of mine for two decades and still wonder how those 2 things got skewed together

i guess the cw is serving its purpose if the thing you're trying to avoid is the gratuitous application of uninformed headcanons

in the event this is a good faith question, i did actually go hunting and i wasn't able to find any anything directly from the creators in an interview stating one way or another. and it's not like there are any mental health professionals we meet in piltover or zaun, obviously.

that being said, diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia include ruling out mood disorders, instances of catatonia, and things like a flattened affect, the latter of which i don't think jinx ever shows. meanwhile, she does have the intense and unhealthy fear of abandonment and "splitting" we'd expect to see from cluster b personality disorders, along with extensive mania and depressive episodes, and the comorbidity of cluster b with ptsd mixed with her extensive traumatic episodes makes the diagnosis as clear as one can diagnose a fictional character who may or may not be a teenager.

normally hard diagnosing fictional characters is really obnoxious behavior, but jinx could have walked out of the dsmv as a stereotypical case study tbqh.

I have to admit, this whole issue with Jinx reminds me of the Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice drama from back in 2017.
