i'm broadly with you but i think calling ppl homophobic for not reading the same gay-leaning subtext in the same way may be a bit of an aggressive stretch. i'd reserve that for people outright going against the canonly stated sexuality of characters, bc sometimes with subtext it really is down to some rpers just not reading the neon rainbow room rather than having malicious intent.

+1. Not liking someone's m/m or f/f ship does not mean you're homophobic, and using that argument to be an asshole to others banalizes and waters down what homophobia REALLY is. And I've seen it used sevberal times to frame other shippers are bad people and EVIL HOMOPHOBES.
