This is the first I'm hearing of it, but it explains a lot. The player has been a massive flake with every character they've had at Dupe but somehow inexplicably squatted for months with each one.

They were also the mod of that Silent Spring game which I heard on the grapevine closed after some big interpersonal wank implosion but I don't know deets.

if it was her, i'm not surprised either. i shared a game and was plurk mutuals with her for a while and she's always been a drama magnet. the type of player who never appears to be in the middle of wank but somehow manages to have beef with lots of unrelated people until it becomes obvious who the common element is.

reading the warnings page on the journal and it feels like a game of "I picked all these hot topic issues to make relevant to my character but I actually have no experience with any of them"

The thing that baffles me is that the player starts every meme thread with this giant list of "hey here are all the content warnings that might come up".....and nine times out of ten, they don't come up. I've had a few meme threads with this character (probably because I play a military guy and she's got a blatant military fetish) and it's just been anodyne boring shit that's tagged for five comments before inevitably dropped.

Just because you've got a triggering OC that doesn't mean you have to start every thread with "oooh, look at how EDGY this is, look at all these CONTENT WARNINGS I have, aren't I ADULT."

(And also yeah, the OC just isn't good)

it's ironic bc things appeared to go to shit in silent spring after she very publicly shamed and banned one of her players for the crime of discussing pet death in the game plurk and proceeded to shit on the banned player so hard it looked like she was trying to get them ostracized from all dwrp

is that really why silent springs died?

nah it died due to her inability to maintain the npc interactions she'd built into it. she was a solitary admin of a game that centered around unraveling a convoluted mystery by interacting with npcs but she took weeks to answer tags that would've progressed her own plot. small cast of characters with nothing to do and the ball never really got rolling.

yeah reading their character info and i can see why they got denied

this is just a list of triggery fetishes in a trenchcoat. don't get me wrong we're all freaks here, we all got weird shit we like to rp but in a collaborative hobby if there's just too much that's uncomfortable and/or borderline triggering about your character then they're ill-suited for the public sphere

if every conversation is gonna come with a list of triggers a paragraph wide, if i can't even have a single tag without the bulimia or the internalized homophobia being mentioned, then it's a downer at best and triggering at worst

no opinion on this player's ooc behavior but yeah this is not a good ic for duplicity or any game really

the best part is that the central issue for the character (getting type 2 diabetes makes you lose your license) hasn't been true since like 2019 and they play from the current time period

the way everything reads as "like him, i am also like this, so take my word for it i have a degree in genetics" is so tiring

this is a character you play in a psl with one person who is equally into whatever this is, not for a game

i admit i know nothing but i also wondered why hard-of-hearing wouldn't dq him but blood sugar would?
