can 100% believe that the mod team moved goal posts, lied, failed at communication and then blamed/deflected responsibility onto someone else because all of that is stuff they do right out in the open on the regular

but also damn this player is up their own ass and part of the problem. their OC is "too realistic"? game events "abruptly started getting better" because of their personal contributions? girl what

events haven't been good in this game for a long time and that's what a lot of the feedback in the recent player survey was about. and your made up trauma fetish military OC isn't some form of high art hyperrealism

you just thought you were in tight with the popular clique, but you found out that really you were only hanging around laughing at their jokes and now you're oh so wounded about getting the same treatment as everyone else, boo hoo

+1 terrible mod team is terrible, what's new. and I'm willing to put money on the anon who stated previously that player questions about the hilariously unclarifying clarifications made to AC rules were 'almost hostile' was a mod.

but I will say there was a period of time where events did seem to improve - not to the extent that this player seems to think, but they were comparatively better until they started to be the same thing almost every month. (do we need to thank them for the insane amount of 'forced truth-telling'?)

and then this month's was fucking awful, so the game might go back to getting really shitty events.

this is part of the problem with the game. it's not just that the events are shitty but also the way the mod team just seems to want to coast along doing the bare minimum. why should players make an effort when the mods don't even want to? no wonder there are so many squatters and flakes.

i saw someone give feedback years ago and they were told that the game would never become plot driven and the mod team work from the perspective that it's a sandbox where there are sometimes events. it explained a lot about their attitude. i wish this was made clearer to players because i bet a lot of people would never have apped knowing they were apping to a sandbox game.

If they're trying to uphold the "legacy" of the game for the original creator, sounds like they're failing. Even if the team has completely changed hands, you'd think one if them would have a good understanding of where the game should go.

Or actually listen to it's player base.

If the reason why they nitpick or outright deny plot suggestions is because they view and/or use it was a sandbox, they need to come out and say it. Or hand the game over to a group who want to make it better, but neither will ever happen.

it's honestly wild that there's a mod team so completely out of touch with what its playerbase wants - and has consistently wanted over the years, because not a single one of these complaints are new

but the lack of transparency from the mod team to the playerbase is what takes it from 'fair enough, it's your game' to 'hey, what the fuck'. the premise is completely misaligned with how the game's run.

they don't want the game to go anywhere because that would require having to come up with a plot. that's why they stall any efforts for characters to try and figure out the setting. they're burned out and just don't care.

Re: DUPLICITY

(Anonymous) 2025-06-20 10:45 am (UTC)(link)
i don't think it's burnout. the mods have always been very consistent about the PCs' inability to challenge or change the setting in any way

if you were hoping to do that, you joined the wrong game. this has been an established fact for 5 years.

an established fact you only find out if you try throwing your character at the brick wall of actually doing anything in the game

if they put the word "sandbox" in the premise or made it clear in the game pages that characters can't do anything it would save a lot of time and frustration

+1

if you don't know anyone in game, you don't know how bad it is

and until you're in game, it's also easy to think that it's just irate players complaining about not being able to do what they want, or exaggerating

They're also about as unreliable a narrator as their fatphobic muse. The constant harping on having their names and so it's a mutual nda to not put screenshots out there is so telling on how much more to the story there is.

If there wasn't, they would publish all and be damned. It's obvious they're hiding shit and only putting their best out there. Shame that best is pretty pathetic and weird. Not helping them much.
