how has thunderbolts made mcu players even more insular

they're not any more insular than normal. you're just noticing them because there's a lot more rpers for that canon specifically and they're excited and tag each other a lot because of the movie, so they stand out in the sea of ignored starters and empty toplevels which makes up the rest of bkst.

Not that, necessarily, but I see them ignoring a lot of crossover tags.

This is just a lie. There's a huge group of them that only tag eachother and only eachother. They don't tag out to any other genre (video/anime/comics) and a few are massively slower with responding to others who tag them than they are with the thunderbolts* clan and drop those tags faster. a lot of people outside that group just stopped bothering to try with them.

Tho tbf that big group also ignores most other MCU players. would have never cared or noticed if they weren't in so many memes on the first few pages with massive threads to eachother and only eachother all the time

unfortunately there's fuck all you can do about this in a place like bakerstreet. no one has to tag anyone and clearly they're not interested in being the chance bakerstreet could use

i'll say though some of the mcus do tag others. you're right about that particular group though. i don't bother with them anymore

The Netflix mcu players are the best if you want crosscanon CR. Lokis too, funnily enough.

But yeah, good luck getting Thunderbolts minus the occasional Bucky to tag you.

daredevils and punishers have been just fine

if you can get ones that aren't played by assholes

absolutely not related to any of this myself, but i know that it tends to follow that if someone plays one marvel character, it's a chance they play another. so some of the daredevil/punisher players could also play thunderbolts* characters.

i've had great cross-medium cr with two different lokis in two different games

I was really looking forward to playing with some Red Guardians and Sentries, but nobody plays the former and the latter takes the cake for attracting the snobbiest MCU players to date.

I've seen a red guardian or two on texting memes but they're rare

This is so disingenuous.
1. A lot of these thunderbolts players have been on bs for years prior to the movie coming out. I never had any problem getting crosscanon threads with them. Usually I was the only one tagging their toplevels at all in any given meme. Barely anyone cared about them before now (and if your response is BUT BUCKY that's exactly my point.)
2. Of course they're excited to be playing together, it's a new team that attracted more players and ships that are still fresh and shiny. Like any new canon, you'll just have to wait for the trend hoppers to fall off and for their tag load to die down. They're not going to be tagging out when they're already spoiled for choice, so the onus is on those who want to play with them to reach out. That's always how it's been on bs.
3. The only real difference in the people playing from thunderbolts before and after the movie is the influx of Johns and Bobs. So it makes it seem like that's where your actual attention is, and not all the Yelenas and Buckys that have been around all along.
4. Nothing is stopping you from picking up a thunderbolts character and participating if you're feeling that left out. There's barely any Alexeis, Avas, Mels, Valentinas around and I bet they'd be happy to play with. I even see Taskmasters getting threads and she died instantly. Unless all you actually care about is the white cock du jour fest
5. The fact you're checking how fast they're tagging any particular thread vs another makes it seem like you have major confirmation bias against either these players specifically or you're bitter they're currently more popular than your character. Which is funny because these characters weren't all that popular before, it's only a problem now that they are?
