I don't mind CRAUs. As long as they don't use it to justify their shitty characterization or turning their character into an OC, I'm fine with it. So what if the CRAU recognizes your character, this happens vice versa all the time when somebody picks up a previously dropped character. Just talk it out so the CRAU one doesn't godmod by accident.
Nobody has a right to bitch about somebody playing an ooc character if the player hasn't even been critted properly first. But if they have and haven't improved at all it's open season.
I like CRAUs who remember my character, because it's a good jumping-off point for cross-canon CR. It's not always positive CR, but it's fun nonetheless.
