Okay, I must have missed this if it was explained earlier... but what's with the asterisk in trans*? Is there supposed to be a footnote? Or is it now a terrible transphobic thing to abbreviate? I don't follow SJW stuff on tumblr or anything, but I try to keep reasonably abreast of gender studies and this is the first time I've seen it written that way.

It's a wildcard that can stand for transwoman or transman or transgender or transexual. It's basically a catchall that's much faster and easier to type out than a trillion and one terms and offends nobody.

AFAIK, it's actually to denote that it includes both transwomen and transmen. Like Latin@ is to denote both Latina and Latino.

if you are directly asked a question about your character, or about your time or inclination to do a thread or a plot: answer it. if you have very strong feelings on an issue, mention them. is this behavior so foreign to the average rper? i'm not even kidding, did i miss some kind of memo that vocalizing your actual thoughts or intentions is b a d?

this is such a problem for me too... i've stopped playing smut with people i don't know because i got sick of all the infantile behavior. people are so desperate for validation and cozies that planning a thread has become something scary.

reading some old threads in an old, dead game and seeing so much of this shit:
Character A had heard about the problems his friend Character B was having and wanted to check up on him, so he headed in that direction.
or
Character 1 entered the room, looking for someone to answer his question.
Character 2 was behind a piece of furniture and not visible to anyone. he was asleep but his magic ninja training alerted him that someone was here so he woke up!
in this case it's not even IC for Character 2 to be a dick and just hide in the shadows to watch people, he's polite and helpful so it makes no sense for him to know somebody's there and just ignore them
in both cases, why can't either of you just ENGAGE THE OTHER PLAYERS IN YOUR SCENES
why can't Character A walk up to the door of his friend's apartment and knock, why can't Character 2 come out from behind his bookcase or whatever and ask the other character what's up
would it kill you people to do something to move the scene forward a little instead of padding it out with a bunch of posts of people doing nothing
and don't get me started on the logs that have 7519266 lines of character smiling and nodding and giving two and three word responses to each other

mine is that paradisa is a shitty wankhole. it all happened in this thread (http://rpanoncomm.livejournal.com/12737.html?thread=111794625#t111794625) from nearly two years ago, but i think it's kinda why paradisa is, from what i've read, dying today. literally no one sane wanted to apply there after that exploded. it was, by far, the second biggest wanksplosion i saw after zodion's rapetrolling/zodion in general.
Oh man, I remember that; I was in the game at that time and just watching the thread grow with the distinct feeling of "this is going to look so bad."
