a person can be trans and disagree with the use of trans*. it looks stupid and "special snowflake," and it unfortunately screams "internet trans for attention." there are valid reasons to avoid it, just as anyone who does use it isn't necessary "internet trans"
whoever told you to use it does not speak for everybody, and the fact you're accusing someone who disagreed with you of not being trans enough for your standards is disgusting and not how it works. you've just revealed yourself as having zero understanding of the actual situation
