It can also be pretty fucking passive aggressive and not far from highlandering. I've known people who play the same character as me who want to go on and on about what their character is doing and thinking and feeling, and who jump into my plurks to talk about how their version of the character would react to some hypothetical situation. It's all not-so-subtly pushing that they want either validation and ass patting or oneupsmanship.
Either way I'm not interested, especially because I've never met someone who did this shit whose playing of the character I actually respected. The difference is that I'm not trying to shove how I play the character down their throat like I have something to prove to them.
Re: didn't know if this should go under game or plurk pet peeves
Yeeeeah. It gets particularly awkward when their version is kind of mediocre.
Not that I'm the best Character X in the world, but when somebody hops in to talk about how X would totally react with this, that and the other thing, sometimes it's hard to repress the desire to tell them that mine won't be doing any of those things because they're OOC.
