I hate using instant messenger, to be honest. One of the things I really like about Plurk is that I can walk away from my computer for ten minutes, forget to write "BRB", and no one gets offended or asks if I'm still there
This. I stopped using AIM because I got tired of people expecting me to respond to their IMs right away. If I'm online, I'm usually doing multiple things at once. I'm not sitting there staring at my AIM window the entire time so cool your tits, I see it flashing and I'll get to you in a minute.
I use both AIM and plurk and a lot of the people I talk to on AIM know that I wander off sometimes. I've had a few people confused when I first starting talking to them but once they got used to me just being that way, they were cool with it.
