Had it been someone else, I think most of us (with the exception of the nastier wankers around here, who wouldn't accept anything just to be assholes) would have accepted it.

However, with it being Kevin, and with the way Kevin went about "coming out" that makes it COMPLETELY FUCKING OBVIOUS that it's only for attention and to get out of the trouble they caused by invoking people's cis guilt, it's beyond ridiculous to demand that people accept this at face value just so we don't SEEM "transphobic".

Look past the emotional blinders and realize who we're talking about. Kevin is manipulating all of you into coming to his defense. Be pissed off at him, not us.

as the other trans person in this whole clusterfuck (and i regret getting as involved as i did because i think i got a little too mad) i have to say, in the most neutral, nonaggressive way it is possible to be on the internet, that i'm surprised you went to defending kay in this instance when i saw the post as an emotionally manipulative attempt to appropriate something i struggle with on the daily in order to deflect criticism. honestly i feel like it's more important to not tolerate this behavior than it is to give them a free pass.

like, my skepticism toward the post is not just because she's creepy, but she's creepy AND the whole post was emotionally manipulative as fuck, with her coming out tossed on the end as an afterthought, which makes me inclined to doubt her sincerity as a whole. it's not that i think creepers can't be trans, but that i think a little scrutiny of something as suspicious as this is unfortunately necessary to avoid allowing insincere, appropriative predators into our community.

it is very likely she actually is trans. if she is, that will become clear pretty shortly. in the meantime, i'm sure kay can handle a little disbelief from random, faceless assholes on the internet, if i can handle that kind of reaction from my own parents.
