am i the only one who's growing increasingly annoyed by the whining and bitching going around about the halloween plot? like, seriously, guys. you joined a horror survival game. the way events operate has always been the same. everyone knows that if you put up a character in an event they're probably gonna die or get traumatized. that's how animus WORKS. that's what makes it fun, because it's actual horror and survival. it's not about your characters being super special heroes that triumph against the evil. it's about a fucking hideous tower full of monsters and horrible things ran by a bunch of assholes - and jason - doing horrible, unspeakable things to your character. if you find the death and misery and angst to be too exhausting... why are you here again?
the way people in plurk are whining about this, you'd think they were told this was a slice-of-life game or something. didn't you read the premise? because shit, more than a few sound like they didn't read the premise.
The reason people are bitching about this event is because it has gone on long enough. Halloween is one damn day out of a year, yet this fuckibg event has been happening for an entire month with the same old retarded shit. Hell, even the fucking deaths are hella lam, just like the entire clergy of shitty roses who run that joint.
It was also announced since way, way back that October was going to be a month-long event, so people knew what they were getting into in terms of commitment.
That said, I hope your wording implies you're not actually in the game.
The game calendar has said for ages that this game would be a month. If you didn't know that either you're not in game or you haven't been paying attention. Not to mention when the event started up on the 9th, one has to wonder why you wouldn't think it would last until Halloween, given that Animus usually has one event a month with only like... one exception that I know of.
Also speak for yourself on the deaths. I've found that the death effects to be amazingly and incredibly ironic and fitting (something Animus has always done excellently) in regards to the characters costumes and their canons as well.
to be perfectly honest, i think people AREN'T reading the premise. i can't help but feel that people are apping into animus because we allow aus and game transplants. not really pointing fingers, but some of the newest people act like they haven't bothered to read anything. and they give the impression they joined the game just to continue old cr, without interacting with anyone new.
granted, you have people like whilhelm, bitching about activity and the size of the game in one plurk, and then spamming the fuck out of atp in the next. i'm cool with new people joining the game, but only if they actually want to join the game. i feel a lot of the newcomers were enabled by people who downplay the horror aspect of the game, and they're unhappy because surprise! animus might be of the last horror games in dw that's actually a horror game in more than just name.
Wilhelm was complaining that he was worried the game may take a turn for "slice of life with horror once a month" like all the other horror games, FYI.
of course he does. he complains about it and he complains about the game getting too fast and too big, and wah, wah, it's not the same animus we used to have!
and then he turns around and spams the shit out of the atp, and telling people to enable their friends. which is okay, really, i'm not complaining about new players, which is something he's done. it's more like the lack of selfawareness strikes me as facepalm worthy.
to be honest, the only time i saw him complain about the size of the game was when ana was talking incessantly about it. he was basically regurgitating what she said. has he done it since?
english is fucking hard and he does an awesome job with it, but uh it isn't just that english is hard
he had a legit reason to complain. the game grew huge in only a few months and caused a lot of other players to get swamped and it's even worse during events and some have even dropped because they couldn't keep up, but he hasn't
for atp he does it to help out the game and help the casts get new people to play with. he's done more for the game than a lot of other people have including running plots and shaking things up ic and always interesting things.
geez if complaining once in a plurk about a legit reason is a reason for hating on him
try again, dude. preferably with less flaily whiteknighting. flaily, unnecessary whiteknighting. no one brought up anything about why he was complaining, only that the mental disconnect of "let me bitch about the game getting big and then talk excitedly about the next atp in my next plurk" is kind of jarring.
though, since you've brought it up, asshole, as an esl player? if english is hard, maybe you should study more before joining an english based game. you know what you're getting into when you app and you're not entitled to have anyone holding your hand over it. being esl doesn't make him a special snowflake or somehow immune to criticism, and if you think it does, you should probably take a hard look at yourself and why you're such a condescending ass.
no, sorry, the game growing is not actually a legit reason to complain about it. it only serves to make new players uncomfortable and to feel alienated, which i know for a fact was a reaction to some of those plurks.
if he hasn't dropped it means he feels he can keep up with the game. he's not a baby, he can make his own decisions and he should be held accountable for them like anyone else. if the game grows too big for some people, that's a shame and it's their prerogative to choose whether to stay or leave.
the whole point of this thread isn't about the size of the fucking game, it's one, about people whining and complaining about a halloween horror event in a fucking horror game, and two, being annoyed at people who enable others into the game without caring about the fucking premise.
he helps with atp, i assume, because he wants to. (even if, i insist, it's kind of a facepalm worthy thing for him to do if he also complains about the size of the game.) aside from that, he plays his characters. just like everyone else. his plots are not the only plots going on in the game, and he's not the only person trying to stir things up and keep them interesting. he plays his characters, that's it. he's not a special snowflake or entitled to any kind of special treatment, and if you or him do think he does, you are fucking moron who fails at grasping basic social interaction.
no one is hating on him, just pointing out, again, an incongruent attitude of his. which, for the record, he has expressed quite more often than "once in a plurk". more like once every few weeks, usually while apps are being processed, and generally in a very passive aggressive tone. i don't hate him for it, i just think it's dumb and lacking selfawareness to make snide remarks about the size of the game and then turn around and start preparing for atp. and again, it gives a bad impression and makes newbies uncomfortable, some of them enough to drop.
but that was not my point, so thanks for derailing this with your psychotic, paranoid whiteknighting.
my point is that i'm getting real sick of people who seem to have joined the game without even bothering to read the premise or who don't understand what the hell "horror game" means. most of which, seem to have joined through atp. (which is the only reason i mentioned whilhelm in the first place. that is what we call an offhand comment, but it doesn't mean anyone's hating on him, you can chill your goddamn tits and stop derailing the discussion now.)
there, long-winded and detailed, so you and your utter lack of reading comprehension can stop jumping the fucking gun and screaming about imaginary offenses. is that good enough for you now or do i need to spell it out more clearly for you?
derailing pisses me off. people who can't read but need to whiteknight anyway piss me off. but most of all super defensive socially retarded idiots putting words in my mouth and missing the point to make someone else look like a victim pisses me off. so yeah, i buttmad.
I will say one thing: Wilhelm doesn't deserve the hate. He hasn't done anything to deserve it except express unhappiness about the pace of the game once, those are the facts, and neither have these anons for disagreeing. Sorry you got such a huge stick up your ass about someone going about their daily RP. He hasn't torn someone a new hole; he hasn't said anything bad about other players; he hasn't caused dramatic, overly wanky grudge piles. While you, sadly, actually have. And namecalling anons? Very classy there.
And hey maybe the above anons were applying that to all the anons hating on him for something so ridiculously fucking stupid. Wow, what a way to be entitled and self important that it had to be about someone putting words in your mouth instead of someone calling anons out for unfounded shit.
And picking on anon's English? How laughably moronic. As if yours isn't utter shit. This is an anonmeme, people change how they write on purpose to keep from being found out. If half these anons are who I think they are, they're all faking.
Go be buttmad in your corner over there. Go on. And think about dropping if Wilhelm and the anons pointing out the fucking ridic shit pisses you off that much, because half the player base going about their daily online routines and being human must piss you off.
i can't help but feel that people are apping into animus because we allow aus and game transplants.
sorry to confirm this is happening to some extent.
i know several people who apped in for exactly this reason and who keep enabling me to join for this reason even when they know i don't like horror games.
I would imagine that sort of thing happens, yeah. :\
Though as a relatively new player, I was attracted to the horror aspect, as those are my favorite types of games. That they allowed AUs and game transplants was just a bonus.
