years old games (3+ years I'm talking about) with outdated formats or rules that basically nobody likes and no new games have anymore, but that a few members of the old guard defend to the death so they never change.
close cr abandoning plotting with you for new shinies and cliquey casts
looking at you, every SPN/Doctor Who/Sherlock cast
downright fed up with this happening but I draw the line when it happens to my friends too
if you don't want to fucking tag with us, don't set up plots and then never follow through. then if you ever say anything about it, you're labeled as a shitty human being. the next time I get IMd about insular casts being circklejerking fuckwads, someone is getting my foot up their ass.
clarification: if someone tries to resolve it privately like a fucking adult and then they get dogpiled for being butthurt or told their concerns aren't legit
hey fuckasses, this is the reason people don't go out of their way to just be upfront about problems.
Even being in the Who cast but being from a different Doctor's era than the clique lands you in this situation. Or maybe I'm just unlucky and got the Doctor player who doesn't care about previous companions.
The notion that, if you've been in game for more than a year that you have to remember every little thing you had happen with your muse ICly.
Look, I may be able to just look up old posts, but last I checked, my muse doesn't have the ability to remember every single little minute detail that has ever occurred to them in game.
They're gonna forget shit and SURPRISE they may even remember things WRONGLY.
Hate this shit. It gets pretty old having to deal with other characters teasing mine about her "bad memory" just because she doesn't instantly recall what an old neighbor's son had for breakfast on Wednesday two years ago like the rest of them apparently do.
I say that depends on the rate of passage of time in the game. If it's one RL day per every IC day, then I'd agree. But if it takes one week or even one month in RL to get through an IC day, I would expect them to remember the more significant events and conversations that happened over the span of at least an in-game week. Unless they have a shit memory where they forget everything that happens to them over the course of a single day.
I have the opposite problem. I seem to remember every fucking word they've ever said to anyone, but then I'm stuck wondering if they would remember it.
And even if a game has tags for people who tag in, doesn't do much good if the players don't use them.
Never will understand why people say it's so much easier to find old threads in a comm based game. It's not if people don't tag posts and you don't recall who made the post.
being enabled by the same person to three different games and then after the first three days having them completely threaddrop and ignore me in favor of the other half of their otp
where they thread together for weeks in the same goddamn post as my dropped threads are
I hear this. I had a friend try to enable me to their game, but escaped this happening to me in a game environment because my friend couldn't even manage to tag my voice testing post for more than five minutes without flaking out.
I got lucky, I guess. All my sympathy, anon! I hope you're having fun ingame even without your flake of an enabler.
watching a ship you wanted to play out in a game sink before it could even start because the canon romance interest apps in and it would be ooc of the character not to be with their canon partner
i know wankgate hates shipping but it's such a buzzkill whenever this happens
then don't app that character into a game? just musebox the ship if you want, but it's kind of ridiculous to whine about how you couldn't play out a ship in a game with a character you know has strong attachments to another character in canon.
In AU games: people apping a castmate with close ties to your character, then deciding they must be a SPECIAL SNOWFLAKE and make them special somehow. And they can't just do it by making said character a badass or something. No. They have to do it in a way that breaks your own character's AU history.
IF YOU'RE APPING INTO AN AU GAME, READ THE HISTORY OF YOUR CLOSE CANONMATES FIRST, FOR FUCK'S SAKE. If you're gonna make them a special snowflake, do it in a way that doesn't force everyone to make major changes to their own damn character.
hate those whiny bitches who cant seem to understand that long tags = good tags isn't always the fucking case. short tags are great. long as theres something to reply to.
there is an asshole on my plurk whining about this thread theyre in. abusing the (unsure) function all over and how they should maybe drop the thread if all they get if 2-4 sentences for every three paragraphs they do because (unsure)((unsure)(unsure)(unsure)(unsure)(unsure)(unsure)(unsure)(unsure)(unsure)(unsure)(unsure).
and the person of the other thread can see this shit. maybe they dont want to answer every little blink you and gesture your character does, fucker.
Motherfuckers apping into games and THEN realizing they hate it. I'm not talking about a game not clicking after all, I'm talking about people who aren't comfortable with violence or body horror apping into Animus or Facility, or people wondering where all the action is in Holly Heights. Did you guys not read the premise, or what?
I hate when I find a game where I love the premise and get excited to app only to find out the players mostly suck and aren't worth being around or that the character I want to app has been played by the same person there for years and the only way they'll ever give them up is if the character is pried from their cold, dead fingers.
I hate people who whine about not being included when they refuse to go up to people and suggest plots or cry about how they don't want to "annoy people" or bitch about how they got steamrolled over once and no one was interested and clearly that means that no one wants to play with them ever.
Newsflash. This is a socially awkward hobby. Not everyone is going to come to you and want things. You have to go out and get it and sometimes people miss things or get distracted, especially if you hit them up on plurk. It doesn't mean they don't fucking want it. If you're constantly whining about how the same group of people are always doing things together, here is why:
THEY ARE COMFORTABLE WITH EACH OTHER. They don't fear rejection or fear like they're being annoying when they come to those people. It's a give and take hobby we're in, if you're not willing to approach people for shit, then people won't approach you for anything. And crying about how you don't feel wanted or that people won't help you with your plots/etc. will not change things, it'll just get you a lot of asspats and sympathy promises, whereas if you'd just persistently hit people up on CR memes and tagged around a lot, you'd see a noticeable difference.
tl;dr: BEING WHINY AND AFRAID OF APPROACHING PEOPLE FOR PLOTS BECAUSE "WAH I DON'T WANT TO BE IRRITATING" IS A BIG PART OF WHY YOU'RE NOT GETTING ANY PLAY.
It might not be true of a lot of people, but if you can honestly tell me you're persistently going after CR and always hitting people up on CR and plotting memes and getting no results, then I'll buy something is wrong. Most of the time I hear this complaint, it's the "I posted to the CR meme and got little to no response, but didn't tag around much" or "I tried to get into something on plurk and got brushed aside." Plurk moves super fast. If you really want in on something and got steamrolled on plurk, pplurk the mun.
Jesus Christ, I'm sick of socially awkward babies who need everything spoonfed to them.
I get it, I promise. Your character has magic powers and is really, really good at that and is totally awesome.
My (badass normal) character was impressed.
Then, yours started being an ass. Mine is no longer impressed.
This isn't bad. Negative CR can be fun, and you always seemed pretty cool, so I was happy to get a thread with you.
But.

I get that your character would see them as that, but don't, as a player, decide that's all my character can contribute.
TMI in drop posts. For the love of god, just say something like real life issues. I don't need the second hand embarrassment of you telling the entire game in a public OOC comm post what mental illness is making you stop online RP.
