They're doing the Iron Patriot for IM3 (or at least, giving the Patriot color scheme to another villain, I don't know the official word).

So they released a still of an Iron Man suit with a captain america color scheme and people are losing their shit and thinking that, somehow, Steve got an iron man suit and is fighting crime in it along with Tony.

Not another villain, Rhodey. The damn suit has his name on it. My plurk is on fire over this stupid fucking suit because they think it's Steve.

Those poor idiots. Pass the popcorn.

So are Tony/Rhodey fans going apeshit about this suit also or is there no Tony/Rhodey fanbase or what

(Anonymous) 2012-10-25 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Since Rhodney is not white, fanbase for the ship is small and hard to find as usually.

i know it's a typo but

i lol'd at "rhodney"

I find this hilarious.

Whether or not comics Steve would, MCU Steve would crash that thing in a heartbeat.

idgi why

(Anonymous) 2012-10-27 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Because Steve is a kawaii baka and he can't work machines and stuff XDDD how does he shot microwave XD

(Anonymous) 2012-10-27 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
yeah because it's not like steve is a trained combatant with good reflexes and advanced agility and the ability to learn new technology

oh wait

There's learning how to use a tool, and then there's learning how to pilot a goddamn mech.

I understand when people get frustrated with the done-to-death "Steve doesn't get modern things," but "Steve doesn't get modern things" is also canon, and the man can't do everything.

So, yeah. Put him in a mech and I don't expect him to do great in it.

da

Steve doesn't get modern things like pop culture references. Modern famous names. World events that occurred while he was on ice. In the deleted scene with Cap, he's using modern tech just fine. Look at him with Coulson before getting on board the helicarrier, he has no trouble with the virtual file he's going through on Bruce. Yeah, he didn't know what to do in the scene with the lever pulling but for fuck's sake, no one without engineering experience would. And the Iron Man suit is just that -- a robotic armor with remote assistance from an AI, built to be used to fight. Besides, technology similar to the HUD inside the helmet is already out there, has been for some time, not up to Marvel-esque/Halo standards obvs but still. Steve wouldn't have that difficult a time of it figuring out what means what. He figured out how to control those HYDRA jets inside the Valkyrie, too, and he'd never been inside one before. Those weren't just ~tools~, those were top notch military machines -- HYDRA had the kind of tech that the SSR didn't even have at the time, according to Howard, and they were supposed to be beyond the regular military scope in those days anyway.

Look, I realize the Avengers was making a point of it to have Steve look dumb compared to Bruce and Tony, but come on, broski. He's a military trained personnel with highly enhanced abilities on top of all that. Do you honestly think that, faced with a suit like Iron Man's, he'd flail like a uguu kawaii bakabaka in midair and then crash it, iyaa~an? Because I really don't. Maybe he'd end up crashing it, yeah, I can see that, but not in a heartbeat. Not like an idiot. Not unless someone in charge of said scenario was going out of their way to ignore everything I mentioned above + more.
