well, it's a ship-wide event, right? it affects (effects?) the whole ship, not just the passengers but the enviroment itself. everything. at best, an "opt-out" would just be sitting up in the o2 gardens. smh is all.

While I get your point, AX is a survival horror game. Shit isn't going to be scary for the players or the characters if there's always an easy way for large amounts of characters to be completely and utterly unaffected. The actual opt-out on this event would be, at a guess, your character not removing or wearing their creepy mask. Which makes it more of an opt-in, really.

My thoughts exactly. I think the masks are more important than they seem right now, because creepy masks that fit precisely to your character's face and represent their dark sides? Come on, that's an obvious plot setup-- and to opt out of that one, just don't have your characters put their masks on.

Also, the ~oh no can't opt out~ bits only last for four days and consist of a: it being really cold, b: getting locked out of your room, and c: a creepy mask on your door. This is pretty low on the scale of things that should need an opt-out (as opposed to, idk, character death or sudden manticores or a mass hallucination of Silent Hill). Come on, they're on a spaceship. It might as well feel like one sometimes.

Not that I'm arguing with you on the general issue, but I think you're wrong, detail wise, on your last paragraph. The being locked out part lasts for four days, but there's no mention of power being restored at that point, so I would assume it's still cold and still dark/dim/emergency lighting. The mods also haven't yet answered a question in the queue clarifying the effects of the decreased gravity, so characters could be floating around the ship.
