I specifically gave up on Bleach shortly after the Battle of Karakura when I realized that if I got any more Ikkaku and Yumichika after that, it'd probably take as long as it did and last about as long as it did in that section at best.

I have a soft spot for those two.

I finally lost interest in Telltale when they announced they were following GoT and TftBL with a Minecraft series.

Gave up on Naruto sometime after the timeskip. Maybe after the Rescue Gaara arc. I still checked up on it and liked the characters but lost any interest in catching up after it became all about the Uchihas.

Afterschool Nightmare, how I loathe thee, let me count the ways:

-Dickhead boyfriend didn't have a controlling sister, she's just a figment of his imagination from his unhealthy fixation his real sister he hasn't seen in over a decade that the MC could somehow see outside of dreams (?). He's mentally unstable, obsessive, and well a jackass, why is he the leading love interest.

-Surprise, this is all a secret test so they're souls waiting to be born, and the MC's intersexed body is because she's actually a set of faternal twins and she kills her male twin off... but everyone's living normal lives with childhoods, parents, and schools, wtf?

i actually really enjoyed the first season of hannibal. it has everything i like in a show-- murder, mystery, manipulation, will graham looking like he's about to cry all of the time, fucked up found family. the crimes were interesting, hannibal's fascination with will and desire to FUCK HIM UP were interesting, artsy fartsy shots, all of that was great.

and then season 2 became this weird, discombobulated shitshow with the main character in fake jail for most of it, crimes that made literally no sense (what happens if you stuff a bird in a corpse, and the corpse in a horse????), killing off p much the best character in the show in a stupid and pointless way that had pretty much zero plot consequence (argh beverly), and a sharp and sudden ramp up in fucked up sexual tension between will and hannibal that bryan fuller swears is just ~brotherly kinship~, f'reals. none of it made sense, and someone stopped doing artsy fartsy and went full lsd with how they shot the show.

i actually watched the first episode of season 3, but then had to stop because it was just physically painful to watch. i also just happened to catch the last 20 minutes of season 3 on tv also, and i do not regret my decision at all. (spoiler, "brotherly lovers" hannibal and will murk a serial killer together, will looks deep into hannibal's eyes as they're both smeared with blood, whispers it's so beautiful and then throws them both off a convenient cliff. it's implied that they survive to become cannibal serial killer boyfriends, and end with eating hannibal's therapist)


i'm incredibly buttflustered about how much this series went down the shitter

young justice: the timeskip in between s1 and s2 as well as the fact that at the end of s1 there were like five fricken characters doing the "I have a secret that impacts the entire team but I'm not going to tell people" plotline. poor communication kills, dickheads.

Shiver series by Maggie Stiefvater: In the second books when the author suddenly decided to make the main's girls parents complete assholes contradicting the first book where they were well meaning but absentee parents. The series itself was awful anyways, so I didn't feel bad about dropping it. I still have never hated a protagonist as much as I hated Grace Brisbane.

Game of Thrones: Podrick dick episode.

The 100: Third episode of this season. They completely fucked with everyone's characterization.

OUAT: The reveal that Zelena was Marian. Also Emma/Killian. That ship is so forced.

Anything Batfamily: The fans are unbearable. No matter who their favorite character is, they are all the worst. I just decided to jump right out of that fandom.

X-Factor (comics): The dupe pregnancy. It was so incredibly badly done. It doesn't help the it was pretty obvious that PAD was just fucking around until he could put Jamie/Layla together. Still hate that ship. Ugh.

I stopped reading Spider-man when they fucked over MJ and Peter's marriage. And I'd been buying all of the different series each month up until then. I was waffling on sticking around anyway by that point but when that trainwreck happened I set it all down and walked away with relief. Peter's marriage and dealing with adult life was what had interested me in the first place and not every writer knew how to deal with MJ but at least she wasn't an accessory. She had her own plotlines and life and dealing with things too and I really enjoyed the times she got pulled into the 'hero' side of Peter's life and the way she handled herself. Take a baseball bat to the Chameleon? Check. Escape Kaine on her own? Check. Face down thugs on the subway because Peter's sleeping and don't you dare do something that's going to wake him up? checkmate. I thought killing Aunt May had been ballsy (the whole 'it was an actress' was bullshit) and a great way for the comic to develop but nope. Reset everything and in the most stupid of ways.

the walking dead first episode of season four or five, can't remember, but when they went into what happened to terminus and laid the off-screen rape on really, really thick

got sometime in the middle of the last season. no real reason to stop caring, i just did, and then from the sounds of it there was no reason to start again

tvd and to because i'm just dead fucking sick over the fact that they are ignoring their own mythology and canon rules that they hammered in from day one and the plot holes are just legion. aside from that, i'm just tired of angst angst angst that never gets resolved. (and this season on tvd, the constant time jumping just annoyed me more than anything).

rule: vampires can't be out in the daylight unless they have daylight rings, which are supposed to be rare since it was a special almost secret spell that very few new.

reality: everyone in tvd/to has a ring and hey, when the phoenix stone is busted and all the freed vampires wind up in dead bodies, only stefan winds up in a mortal body that's dying and omg save him. everyone else somehow either magically winds up in vampire bodies, or they turn themselves vampire via their soul taint and hey, who needs rings, amirite? la la, daylight vampires. it just seems that night work/filming was too 'inconvenient', so they just said fuck all to that and oops, who cares?

i mean, that's the most blatant one i can point out, but constant things like that and just bad writing in general (and aging 'teenagers' that look closer to middle age), i've just lost my drive to watch it or care.

(don't even get me started on how the 'ancestors' can still function in new orleans when the other side has been destroyed. i don't care if they're 'tied' to the realm. qetsiyah did a spell that created the other side to trap all non-humans (including witches). once it was destroyed, there should be no bubble for the ancestors to hide, as there wasn't a convenient coven of geminis to make prison worlds for them to stay in. and having them effect the real world? it's just lazy writing)

The Original 5 X-Men coming to the present. It's not a bad idea for a mini series, it's a terrible idea to make it the new status quo. I lasted throughout the weird Schism period, Hope Summers, Utopia, AvX, and even Fraction's X-Men, but this is what finally did me in.

it was the rotten cherry on top of a whole nasty sundae of shit writing

it sucks because acts 1-4 had so much love poured into them, so much time and effort, and then I guess act(s) 5 just kind of killed everyone's enthusiasm. too much shit, too many characters, too many ways to be written into a corner. I ended up seeing it all the way through because I came this far, but hussie's apathy at the end was fucking palpable. as was mine.

sorry, homestuck. you could have had one hell of an ending.

motherfucking ANITA BLAKE VAMPIRE HUNTER.

not even because anita becomes a magical nympho who racks up a dozen boyfriends in the course of a week and then bangs ten strangers on the side for funsies. that's... something, but hey, whatever. but because she does all that and becomes fucking insufferable with how ~conflicted~ she is, how can she love more than one person, she's supposed to be a good catholic girl who doesn't have sex with six guys in a day, and then ends up treating all her boyfriends like shit (and being a homophobic asshole in the process). anita is like the fucking definition of the dude who has sex with a gal and then loses all respect for her and talks shit about what a nasty slut she is, or the shithead who's having a bad day so they have to spread it around and make everyone else deal with their anger.

also, LKH can't decide what anita's powers are so she literally gives her new ones and takes away old ones between chapters for plot and drama purposes. there's no consistency, and nothing ever makes any dang sense. also there's one asshole ex boyfriend that LKH is mega invested in dragging back in again and again to emphasize how FULL OF HATE he is, and how shitty he's acting, and it's just-- argh, fucking move on already.

the worst part is that i actually really enjoy the world, her dozen boyfriends (they're all pretty great, except one), and LKH's writing. it's fun, it's punchy, and it hits all my kinks, but i just can't ignore the massive sucking hole that's anita's lack of character and the incoherent plots anymore, so i stopped after obsidian butterfly/narcissus in chains. (i actually read pretty far after that, but i just pretend those books don't exist....)
