el nysa. holy fuck is that game a hive of cliquey unfriendly shits, i didn't even last a month despite tagging out as much as i could. dropped threads everywhere, blown off constantly, ignored in plurks and i know it wasn't me because i'm doing just fine for cr in my other game. also full of some of the most obnoxious SFISFSJFFJSHD KEYSMASH LMAO LMAO BIG MOOD bitches i've ever seen. no idea how anyone can stand to play there.
I'll start. I jumped completely into a ship w a castmate without even asking them like full on assumed existing romance w my cool headed char kissing them immediately upon arrival to the game. I hate myself lol. This was like 2 or 3 yrs ago.

I'm really tired of people on memes and stuff just putting the abbreviation for their canons in their top levels it makes them really obvious in the fact they only want canon CR. Yeah, everyone knows what MCU stands for, probably, so not them but then you have HP, KHR, etc etc just expecting you to know who/what they're talking about the most obvious are the VTLD (Voltron the legendary defenders) fuckers who could jsut write Voltron but have to be super extra about their special snowflake canon.

i think you're underestimating how well known harry potter is. if someone puts "draco/ hp" and they're using movie icons, a lot of people in dwrp are going to recognize who that is. if it's something more obscure, usually the name and canon are enough for a google search to tell you who they are. if it still annoys you, whatever, we all have our dumb pet peeves. but if your assumption is "OH these special snowflakes OBVIOUSLY only want canon cr!!!" then you're a paranoid idiot

Just the little things that can be annoying from an ooc perspective while staying ic, even though you know you brought this on yourself for picking up the character(s).

now that a major character from a popular canon got confirmed having had a same sex relationship in the past but (so far) the word gay hasn't been used, what do anons think of that? do you think it's fair to still play them as bi? or are we going to have people side-eyeing this?

i think as long as the character hasn't been like "I ONLY LIKE DUDES, EXCLUSIVELY" or more or less words, headcanoning as bi is totally fine.

sure, you can headcanon something amazing, but at some point you're either limited by the character's lack of in-canon personality and development or you're writing your own character who just happens to look like the self-insert protagonist.

the weird thing about the detroit: bh wank is that every poc on my timeline who liked it was pretty calmly like "yeah it was dumb and had flaws but i liked x character" while almost every white person on my timeline (of which a very small percentage admitted to liking it) threw a fit about it and refused to even look at it for how RAAAAACIST it was
so let's say you play a character whose relationship with his canon significant other is a big part of his character and the canon in general. you love your character but you hate the relationship. maybe it's a sketchy ship, maybe you hate the SO as a character, maybe you just want to be free to play out a crosscanon ship just because. my question is, how do you deal if someone apps in as your character's SO? is being completely honest and forthcoming with the other player a good idea, preferably before they app? do you just suck it up and deal? how do you handle the situation in as tactful a way as possible without hurting the other player's feelings?

communicate beforehand. a player should know ahead of time if they plan to app in for the ship (conversely, they should reach out to an in-game s/o beforehand, but if they haven't...)
it might go off the rails, but you're playing your character. there's no contract or obligation to play x ship just because you do. especially if you're in the game first. you're not going to a hundred percent be able to avoid hurting their feelings unless they also dislike the ship, so just be upfront, polite, and apologetic.
