i mean one of those untagged first-page toplevels is literally just multiple prompts of "this character is sitting here silently and looking unapproachable," so i can't really blame people on that one

lmao no. no one is obligated to tag a toplevel if it doesn't interest them for whatever reason. no one owes you or anyone else tags.

also worth noting the last tdm went up in january, and it's now march

most people only check it when it's just been posted, unless linked by people to their threads. post on a fresh one

disagree re: tdm but agree re: contracts, i had a very hard time getting a contract when i played a dom and it seems pretty universal

my doms have always been tops :(

My tdm toplevel went completely untagged several posts back in spite of tagging out to several others to show I was genuinely interested, so I definitely walked away from it with the impression of no one being interested.

i think some of it like anon above said does depend on who you know. but there's also elements of whether or not your character is outgoing and whether they're from a canon other people know. if your character is obscure and not conventionally attractive then in my opinion they will probably have a much harder time finding a sub.

you have to factor in that if you play a sub they can be taken on by any dominant in the game because doms can have more than one sub, but if you play a dom, they can only be taken on by an untaken sub. so numbers work against you when you pick dom too.

It's okay to be judgemental when you're doing something worth judging tbh

This is why I pay for icons. Especially since my LA characters are from newer canons and being allergic to a well lit scene is trendy right now for some reason

it depends entirely on how much effort you're willing to put into OOC plotting and interaction. i've played both doms and subs and i've never struggled, tho it's true that a dom takes more work

my advice is to build CR with the other characters coming in on the same round as you and the one immediately after and to branch out from there. TL and comment on the OOC intro post & friend people on plurk and you'll be fine

the lack of good lighting is the worst TV trend ever. the house of dragons show? game of thrones? sometimes I genuinely can't tell what's happening because it's so badly lit.

I recently treated myself to paying someone else to make my icons and wow - they did a significantly better job than I ever could making the images visible while keeping the colors balanced, and it saved me a headache. I'm setting money aside to get icons made as a regular little treat for myself now.

sorry, but are you... asking for pity tags? if a small percentage of top levels goes untagged, that truly is a sign of the timing or quality of the post. this reeks of 'make sure everyone gets tagged even if you don't feel like playing with them', which is terrible advice
