three different people have told me a mild horror story about this person in our game now, i wish people would go to the mods. i can't because it has nothing to do with me, but if i was a mod i would like to be aware of a pattern of behaviour that could potentially escalate (example three people who all have stories of this person telling them they shipped their characters after one thread and being very aggressive about confirming a monogamous relationship, or three stories of someone privately approaching people on discord to tell them so and so plays a problematic character and should be avoided, or just three things that individually wouldn't break the game rules or could just be personalities clashing, but all together is concerning.)

tldr wish people would keep the mods in the loop instead of just doing a weird whisper campaign.

and what exactly are the mods supposed to do in these examples? if it's not breaking the rules, they can't act. all of these sound like the players in question should take care of it themselves by either not shipping with this person, not talking to this person, or just not interacting with this person.

there are weirdo assholes with bad ooc/ic boundaries in every single game, anon. it's part of the landscape. if everyone went to the mods every time they encountered one the mods wouldn't be doing anything else. if it's got nothing to do with you, then it's got nothing to do with you. do your tags.

Sounds like those three players are stirring the rumor mill and know they don’t have enough “evidence” to present to the mods. So instead, they’ll start a whisper campaign against that player rather than ponying up deets or opting-out of roleplaying with the player in question.

Your classic juvenile smear campaign.

you do know that bitches travel in batches, right? a batch of bitches? so three people coming to you or bringing up something that literally doesn't affect you just to 'spread the word' and you're so flustered about it that you come to wg to mention it as if there's a problem beyond the babbling of the bitch batch... kinda makes you one of them, buddy.

to break it down further for you: the problem isn't the problem that you think it is. the call is coming from inside the batch of bitches.

this is something I wish players would do more in general. In my experience, going to a mod saying "hey, heads up, I had this experience with x player just so you know" has never been difficult or had any consequences? most often, mods gave me a vague "cool thanks" response but at least I let them know in advance and any issues didn't come out of left field or anything

i don't really think the people replying to this want context they just wanna be mad about the gossip mafia they have encountered in rp which is fine, whatever, i didn't do a great job talking about my circumstances because my vent wasn't about that.

the three separate people don't really know each other and they're not some clique. let's say the complaints are about Player A - i'm talking with one friend about my thread with Player A, they are like oh I never finished my thread with Player A because of [minor boundary crossing]. did they tell the mods? no they didn't want to cause trouble. then I'm talking with a different friend another time about, say, their permissions and content warnings, and they say they're glad I am willing to talk this out because Player A [minor boundary crossing vent]. huh. did they tell the mods? no they just blocked Player A and stopped threading with them.

individually I agree that none of the stories are really worth a mod's time or even gossip worthy? just one wouldn't cause me to avoid Player A, conflict happens. but multiple stories I start to feel like hey, maybe there's a pattern. and maybe if this continues it would be something the mod would like to be in the loop on as it happens, not blindsided when Player A does something that ends up on wg or whatever with players coming out of the woodwork like "actually this happened to me six months ago".

it's not that I expect the mod to handle the interpersonal communications or even issue a strike, it's more about having documentation and being able to make judgement calls. as a former mod myself I would hate to discover people were avoiding my game because of my own Player A's bad behaviour when that should theoretically be within my control.

anyway it's just a pet peeve. i'm not going to the mod myself or confronting Player A or even bringing the actual stuff here because it's boring and barely drama. just think people should let the mod team know if they have private conflict around something to do with the game (content warnings, permissions, bullying potential appers, etc).

IDK, I've done it before because that's what I wanted to RP. And plenty of characters wanted to RP sex with my ugly character, so...apparently I'm not alone in my questionable tastes. If you don't want to rp sex with a character, then...don't.

It might actually be me you're talking about. If so...eh, I don't care.

Absolute pettiest of peeves, but it bugs me when someone picks a network username for their character that's way too generic and obvious. Like if someone playing Nightcrawler from the X-men comics or movies just picked "blueguy".

You don't have to go for the most obscure reference in the world, but put some thought into it!

reading other threads and feeling uncertain: back in the LJ days, weren't log comms for physical, in-person posts as opposed to the "main" comm of network posts? it wasn't an action spam vs prose thing, at least in the games I was aware of.

can you guys just play in the event we were given instead of trying to gain advantages for your characters (after being specifically told you can't do that) or 'solve' the event preemptively (which would mean no one else would get to play the event as described)?

not every event or plot drop is an excuse to try and pick the setting apart at the seams. no wonder mods are so exhausted.

i hate the word "wibble" (context meaning: to be overwhelmed by emotion and take on a childish expression with a quivering lips and chin) so much and i cringe whenever someone in my game uses it in a tag unironically. especially when the character in question is middle-aged or older

We've got one player in the game who edits their tags solely to bump them up in a person's inbox.

I suspect it's because they're new and have to be 18 or so and REALLY REALLY WANNA RP but my dude, sometimes people have to sleep.

for all the whining about the lack of new games, the ones that come out all get like 10 players and that's it. even the private ones.
