that was a style popular in a lot of journal rp from lj era as i remember it. it wasn’t just ecats.

it's so hard to tell what's an action and what's spoken because the tags are just like this [ and then suddenly action ] and suddenly we're talking again

if people don't want to smalltext their brackets because they struggle with reading small text, i completely understand that

but if they did something like italicize the action or bold the outside brackets it would make their tags sooooo much easier to read. i really do think that style is better suited for those who are used to it instead of the majority of rpers in non-ecats games who don't

and i knew people who italicized their brackets as well and even then i’ve seen people get dragged on here for doing that as well even outside ecat games

most people who don’t smalltext were likely people who have been rping in journal rp for a long, long time so

if this particular person you are rping style is bugging you and it’s making threading with them difficult then why not just ask them about it/inform that your difficulty in comprehending their tags

yeeeeeah i can't say that i agree with you there. and the thing is, there are so many people writing tags like this. hence my original complaint that it shouldn't be normalized in games that aren't ecats. if it works on ecats, that's fine. but it's an eyesore outside of ecats.

What. Why are you arguing with something that's basically historical fact. [small text in brackets] used to be for shorter tags that usually only describe one action while prose was for longer, more descriptive tags. But eventually people started putting prose tag length descriptions in the brackets, so it lost the significance and became entirely for aesthetics
