three different people have told me a mild horror story about this person in our game now, i wish people would go to the mods. i can't because it has nothing to do with me, but if i was a mod i would like to be aware of a pattern of behaviour that could potentially escalate (example three people who all have stories of this person telling them they shipped their characters after one thread and being very aggressive about confirming a monogamous relationship, or three stories of someone privately approaching people on discord to tell them so and so plays a problematic character and should be avoided, or just three things that individually wouldn't break the game rules or could just be personalities clashing, but all together is concerning.)

tldr wish people would keep the mods in the loop instead of just doing a weird whisper campaign.

honest answer i just live in fear of someone mentioning me, even though it's never happened. i don't check all the time but i backread what i miss, or skim it. i don't really participate but i think it's still probably bad for me. i don't even know what someone would say about me i just feel like if it happened i would want to know so i keep coming back.

and what exactly are the mods supposed to do in these examples? if it's not breaking the rules, they can't act. all of these sound like the players in question should take care of it themselves by either not shipping with this person, not talking to this person, or just not interacting with this person.

there are weirdo assholes with bad ooc/ic boundaries in every single game, anon. it's part of the landscape. if everyone went to the mods every time they encountered one the mods wouldn't be doing anything else. if it's got nothing to do with you, then it's got nothing to do with you. do your tags.

+1 This is the honest experience. It's a really fun hobby but nothing is perfect and this is one of dwrp's flaws. If it escalates to rule breaking, then of course take it to the mods, but something that has potential to break rules but hasn't actually done so needs to be handled within that circle. Communication is key.

Honestly, and this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I think Tifa has set a pretty good example. The community was named after her, but she hasnt actually done anything wanky in the last eight years or so. People will always remember her stunts but they're farther and farther removed from what Tifa is actually up to these days. That's probably as close to "forgiven" as anyone can be in this tiny community.

She's still getting actively prebanned from games, the deets just don't end up here, so I wouldn't exactly say she's been forgiven. That would also require her to actually change her behavior. Her mean girl shit is just less obvious now.

Sounds like those three players are stirring the rumor mill and know they don’t have enough “evidence” to present to the mods. So instead, they’ll start a whisper campaign against that player rather than ponying up deets or opting-out of roleplaying with the player in question.
