the thing about ai is that it actually fucking sucks at giving you what you prompted it

if your oc has a really unique appearance, like they have certain scars in certain places, or horns shaped a certain way, or a skin tone that ai doesn't want to generate, or anything else that might be even slightly different than "generic anime girl staring into the middle distance," it won't spit out fuckall. at least not consistently.

so yeah, make your icons where the character looks totally different in every one and is doing bland LA modelface. i'm sure that'll attract all the good rpers

I compare it to people who play/love characters voiced by the same actor.

do people actually do this though? because i don't think i've ever met anyone who does, or if they do play more than one character voiced by the same actor it's pure coincidence rather than a deliberate choice.

i've never seen the voice actor thing on dw, but also

the people who are so fanatical about voice actors that they'll buy a video game or pull for a gacha character JUST because their favorite voice actor is voicing that character are often viewed as weirdoes as well

+1 putting aside all the moral stickiness also surrounding ai atm (which like it or not is baggage that exists, and that the majority of dwrp players have strong negative opinions about, rip if you thought you'd draw *less* ire with this), the product just isn't...very good...if you were wanting anything more complex than the blandest and most generic faces+expressions it can algorithmically happy-medium its way to making

at which point you really may as well have just grabbed faces off a stock photos database or w/e for the same result

I have an OC I play in multiple places (started off as a tabletop character) with a unique enough appearance that even though he's fully human-seeming nobody looks exactly like him.

So I just found a PB that was close enough and the DWRP version of him doesn't have all the same elements of his design I have when playing him elsewhere.

ayrt - I don't know Pel's full game history, I was just pointing out they said game dropper and not thread dropper. I do know that the oc they happen to play in game is just kind of what Tifa used to be back in the day - an ic excuse to be an edgelord bully with no character growth other than a pick me girl but make her a bully.

this is why modern RPGs with more advanced character creators are great. i've seen people create their own OCs using the BG3's character creation for their icons since that can get you some unique character traits such as skin, horns, eyes, etc.

Just use pbs from obscure manga. For my male ocs I just scroll through random yaoi manga on my reading manga until I find someone who fits them, and nobody has complained to me about it.

I used to think like this especially after meeting someone awful in my last game that made me want to drop my current canon, but I'm enjoying the game I'm in so much right now and getting things that I couldn't get in psls for years so it really is just a stroke of luck sometimes.
