then they shouldn't be so slovenly that they attract rodents since that's the only way taxoplasmosis might be an issue with indoor cats.

lol this thread reminds me of the hysterical boomers in my life that were convinced my cat, who was born and raised indoors and has never even seen a mouse in her life, was somehow going to murder my hypothetical unborn children with her poop. i guess some people believe taxo just magically manifests in cat poop no matter what.

if you live in an apartment building just assume there are at a minimum insects, and probably mice. my current place also has house centipedes, for everyone's sins.

if you live in an apartment building with mice and insects the property management is not doing maintenance, that is not normal...i know the rent is too damn high but love yourselves

anon, again: if the building's old, and you live in a major city with high population density, rodents are just going to happen at some point in life. check out the latest topito study: the top 10 rodent destinations are some of the most aspirational cities to live in.

i've lived in the same complex for years and it's literally never had vermin because the property gets maintained proactively, lmao

i understand why people in this thread are coping but you do not have to live in infestation shitholes

why don't you just "call management" anon i'm sure they'll be responsive and helpful. if not then it probably won't be too much of a financial or logistical burden to simply pack up and move to somewhere else, where you're guaranteed to never have the same problem again because most places on earth don't have pests. love yourself

+2, ayrt has no idea what rodents are about, especially in an apartment building. you can be the cleanest person, and rats and mice will still travel for shelter, food or nesting resources if there's an infestation nearby, or if you have unattended holes in your walls or by your pipelines. yes, they'll thrive in a household with everyone's shit on the floor, but you're kidding yourself if you think you're safe from mice in perpetuity, especially if you don't live in a newly built home. there are many reasons to pick on dwrpers, but suffering through a rodent infestation ain't it.

you don’t even need to be slovenly either, they just need a constant food source like chicken feed if you’re raising backyard chickens.

(Anonymous) 2024-09-12 09:51 am (UTC)(link)
Or just live really close to farm fields. We're across the street from one #midwestrurallife. We're not slobs but that doesn't matter, because as soon as the combines start harvesting, the mice start arriving. Only way to stop it is to go around the entire outside of your house and seal off any openings that are larger than a pencil, because surprise, mice are liquid and can squeeze through some pretty small ass holes. For a while they were coming though the dryer vent output.

(Anonymous) 2024-09-12 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
construction is another one

my parents got them for awhile when the field across the street was getting torn up, and again when the neighbors with mice were doing renovations

those fuckers are living everywhere even if you don't see them. anons are gonna have a time when they finally get to experience baby's first pest control problem lmao

(Anonymous) 2024-09-12 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
the building beside mine in the city has been torn down twice since i've lived here. completely ripped down. each time, our building's pests have increased tenfold. roaches and mice and even some rats. they are literally everywhere, and people in denial really just solidify my opinion that people are obtuse and too glued to screens.
