sorry, but it's not always about enemies for life. maybe i just think someone's shit at playing that version, but i've only seen them on memes and i don't have their username completely memorized. or it's something similar to someone i like/don't like and i mix them up. there are more reasons than 'trying to avoid wankers' to tag someone.

and a lot of people seem to want to have potential close castmates tag them, so i'm sorry, but if i don't know who's playing my char's s/o or bff because i haven't played with them before, i really don't want to have to click through potentially all the chars on the comm to find the castmate/s i'm looking for. think outside your ass for a minute, jfc.

on that same note, what if someone wants to app in my close castmate or s/o? what if they want to get a hold of me to talk about it but, oops, guess they can't because my fucking username isn't in a convenient place and i don't have my char's name as my username. i'm not going to cry and whine about it, but i've seen plenty of people bitch about how 'this person apped in my s/o and didn't even bother to talk to me about it first. god i hate them'. or people being bullied out for playing a castmate that someone didn't want. those things can easily be avoided by being able to contact someone in advance. which is made harder by the lack of usernames.

but hey, let's make MORE work for the mods that are barely able to handle what they have by having potential castmates pm them to get them to play telephone and pm the castmates to tag them back. that sounds great.

or you could just take the risk, post to the tdm or app anyway? i get what the issue is but asking them to change it back now is just more unnecessary work that detracts from them focusing on the plot. i want usernames on the taken list too, anon, but i would rather the mods do something productive to the game instead.

i can understand that you're trying to offer solutions, but as someone that's had castmates and s/os contact them and be turned off from apping because of my preferences for ships, i would really hate to have someone app in and be happy to play with me, only to find out that i don't ship what they ship and they just 'wasted their time'. this has happened more than once and it's been diverted more than once just by them getting a hold of me first. and your suggestion, nice as it is, only helps if i happen to be on the tdm or if they post to it. and that isn't always the case. usernames are just a standard part of the tdm and since it took them over a week to fix the taken list in the first place, finding one that's actually user friendly to both in game players and potential players would be something i wouldn't mind at least one of them taking the time to do.

there's 3 mods now. apparently everyone's got their shit together. going through and finding a taken list code that offers what the game needs isn't going to take a week. it's something that can be done in less than 3 hours. out of all the things they're lagging on, i'd be willing for them to take an extra 3 hours to make the taken list usable. that's all.

i've never personally had a problem with s/os or best friends app'ing in that i didn't know but yeah. no argument against that.

Posting to a tdm will eliminate your issue at cost of slight inconvenience. Any close canon CR is going to see you, respond to you, and boom, there's the PM chance you wanted. Because who actually avoids potential close cr in a game structure environment anyway, save for those few who have dynamic shipping issues that go against grain.

And since tdms run like clockwork, you can schedule accordingly and even strike up potential CR to use later with other players/potential players. Win/win.

it's not? it was just an example. i don't always have time for tdms, so i personally won't always be on them looking for castmates. just like i don't know all the castmates that might potentially app. and it was one reasonable example as to why usernames should be made available.

Nope, not one of those people. I've been reading this and trying to see your or other anon's side of it, but even at its worst this seems little more than a very minor inconvenience.

People I don't want to deal with, I've talked to and told as much without mods needed. And if a situation goes far, like them actually sucking at who they play, I either move out or crit them and see if they approve, and take it to mods if they don't. So, sorry. My sympathy only goes so far in this case.

good for you. but there are more people that are not entirely okay with this than there are people that are. your experience =/= every one else's, and there are plenty of cases that have happened along the lines of what's been presented here as examples.

i don't really care if you see it. you are not harmed by usernames being made available. if you don't give a shit, that's your deal, but for potential players and even players in game who aren't canon familiar, it's just easier to find a username on the taken list than to try to hunt it down. you're advocating for it being needlessly complicated.

because some people prioritize and you know what? maybe it's not about time. maybe it's about effort. why the fuck would i want to play something out that i'm going to have to replay if/when i get in? or if/when they get in? the world does not revolve around tdms. it's not reserve sniping if you don't play on the tdm and get your reserve in before the 1-6 other versions of that char that played on it. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PLAY ON THE TDM.

It doesn't make me a bad player/castmate not to check it. I have game tags. I don't need nor want to fuck around in a meme. That's why I'm in a game. I also don't want to waste time on someone that changes their mind about apping, is only window shopping, had no intention of apping that char in the first place.
